Multiple Engine Management Faults

jesus Christ.......un......f*cking.........believable! Nah......all bets are off now Twoguns........you've been jerked around long enough! I don't believe in the compensation culture.......but dear god.........you deserve compensation, BIG TIME! Good luck bruv!! Mine has just been recalled for, I think, a pipe and sensor to be replaced. Apparently, I booked it in.......if I did, I'm in worse shape than I thought I was!!! Anyway, I'm waiting for a call back because I've asked for someone to explain to me why exactly they would like the pleasure of my company again????? Glad I extended my warranty!!!!!!!!!!! :(

Don't forget guys I'm not the only one going through this, people like @G1 1hws are having the same issue too.

Just had the VW Tech come to the house and surprise surprise it's confirmed to be the same fault code of P20EE00.
So that's the rest of my day gone. Have to wait for recovery lorry and replacement car to be dropped off.

Had a very lengthy chat with my VW Assist guy, we are on first name terms now. He said there are more of these faults cropping up now and it seems to be mainly the 150 engine and dealers nation wide are struggling with fixing it. He said he was able to log onto some VW central data base which shows dealer reports of work they have carried out and he found that they are replacing anything from AdBlue injectors, NoX sensors, wire looms some even having the whole system replaced, AdBlue tank, ECU or it and pumps etc (Mines pretty much all been changed now too). The only thing was that the data base doesn't say if it fixed the fault or not.

I'm really starting to think it's not to do with the AdBlue system. Now I'm no Engine/ car technician but I am a Electrical Technician which has studied down to component level so I'm fully aware of fault finding and how systems work etc and I'm really starting to think maybe the engine could be the problem. Maybe it is running too dirty or rich therefore producing too much nitrogen oxide for the AdBlue system to cope with. As my MPG is pretty shocking considering the type of road conditions and speeds I drive at, just like many others on this forum.

Let me try and explain what I mean. Say the AdBlue system is designed to cope with say upto 10ppm but the engine is producing 15ppm then it's never going to reduce the level to what the sensor is expecting even though it is working perfectly as it was designed too.
I hope that makes sense and maybe somebody with more knowledge in this field could have ago because VW clear haven't got a clue.

Hi twoguns, I've been following this intently as I am hoping to buy a t6 caravelle this year. I am gobsmacked at the issues you're currently experiencing. Looks like I'll be avoiding the 150bhp dsg! Keep the faith mate, you'll come good in the end.
@Jimbo38 are you my work friend Ade's cousin? If so you will know what I've gone through via him.

@Twoguns , Looking at the ETKA parts list, it shows a temp sensor in the system as well, wondering if they upgraded/changed this, as the regen relies on temp... If it's not regen ing properly the pressure won't match as its blocking up?

@Twoguns As I wrote before I believe VW Customer Services should call it quits with your vehicle :(, give you ALL of your money back including the bills for all your modifications, and send it back to the Factory for tear-down and technical examination to establish what is going wrong. Furthermore, I believe they should halt production of the 150 model until they have fixed the problem as the vehicle is unreliable and not fit for purpose.

If VW won't buy the vehicle back as it now stands, threaten them with watchdog.. That should change their tune a bit..

Tell them you now need a comfort blanket, as the comfort dash doesn't work anymore :whistle::thumbsup:

Cheers @T6 Dave's Dad. My two contacts in Finance and VWUK Customer Care are away until Monday and Wednesday next week and I can't be arsed explaining everything from the start again to somebody else so think it's best to wait until they are back. They can start to get serious. I've also got Paul Willis MD VWUK email which I may try but I expect that email account is heavily filter by his staff so this probably won't even register on his radar but it's worth a try.

I just hope everyone who has a 150, A, doesn't start to panic as there are probably thousands that are fine for everyone that isn't and B, has extended warranty as the speed with which they are fixing mine I think I'm going to need the five years.
It doesn't give you confidence for the future. I intended on keeping this van long term but can you imagine the repair bill six years down the line if something like this crops up£££££££££.

@Twoguns Not the Repo man, not even the Repair man, just a man that hope are becoming too well acquainted with.:thumbsdown:
Please beware if anyone who has to have a low loader in the future check the paper work before you sign it!
Two of the four recover guys that I have had marketed a "S" for scratched on all four wheels. I told him he could stick his paper work where the sun don't shine as there are no scratches on my wheels. He tried to make out that a bit of dirt on the edge was a scratch, so I washed it off and told him to remove the "S" and write no marks on the paper work before I signed it. Cheeky F***er.

@Twoguns , don't worry about it re occurring m8, your covered as known existing fault..
I was more thinking along the lines of these vehicles are getting more and more complex and I believe that the dealers are starting to struggle with some of these complex faults, especially none mechanical faults.

@Twoguns I would be inclined to email the MD VWUK, explaining that you apologize for bringing it to his desk but the two people (and name them) dealing with your problem are both away at the moment but since there has been a recurrence you felt that somebody senior needs to be aware as your vehicle is just on its way back to the dealer again and ask for his help.

This is absolutely unreal, how you've kept it together through all this is unbelievable.

The thing is, most of these guys aren't mechanics, the cars/vans just get plugged in....the computer says 'no' ...and so let's replace that part. Shame that such a premium brand aren't doing more to sort this out.

Sounds like a plan. Probably wait until my wife is home so she can moderate the mood of the email.

Agreed @T6 Dave's Dad , @Twoguns , just be mindful not to appear to be going above the other two heads, so that you don't damage your image in this.. Copy them into the email, as the MD can then delegate to an appropriate person and needs to maintain thereafter oversight of the issue.. Could work in your favour m8

I'm ex RAF so maybe my tolerance is a little higher and I'm used to routine and this has now become routine, they have it for two weeks I have it for one week (in work we are comparing it too one of those extremely rare Ferrari's, where they invite you to buy one, you hand two million Euros over to them and they let you have a lend of it now and then, they are not road legal too)
It's become part of my life now. Wrong I know, but I've got approx 8K stuck in this van which they say they haven't got to cover. I haven't pressed this yet but will heavily be when they return to work next week.
