That is correct, I can't see it's a bad thing. Also, according to the news, if you are in a car and turning into a side road and a pedestrian is waiting to cross the side road, you have to give way to the pedestrian.

Only if the back of the van is sticking out in the main road? I see a rise in rear end collisions! That is correct, I can't see it's a bad thing.
Read the new highway code about vehicle priorities on the road. Its been well discussed in the IAM group i belong to. Also plenty of into on the bet about it.I can't imagine a scenario where that would be the case

So would the cyclist be next to you on your left of right?I see nowhere in the code that says it's ok for any road user to overtake a car on the RHS that's waiting to turn right. If you are stopped, waiting to turn right and there is a cyclist next to you, waiting to turn right then you must let the cyclist take the turn first.
I can't find the diagram in the code I was referring to now, but you're right. I would always wait my turn in the queue of cars, even is there was a cycle box cause the last thing you want, despite what most drivers would think, is a pissed of car driver behind you.So would the cyclist be next to you on your left of right?
If there was one lane going right, I would be waiting in my place in the queue to turn right, taking the lane so that a car behind wouldn't try to squeeze past. If there was a cycle box at the junction, I would be in that and assume that I had the right to go first, but assume that someone might not want me to.

Not strictly true, it's recommended to ride in the centre of a lane to increase your safety at junctions. Riding in the centre of a busy road is unlikely to increase your safetySo all the Power Rangers have now got permission from the Highway Code to ride in the middle of the road?
FFS, they'll be absolutely loving that, just think of the tailbacks they'll be able to cause now.
I haven't had to take my hands off the bars to change gear since the 80'sFor cyclists...
You should
Then how am I supposed to peel a banana, or open a flackjack wrapper, or take my gilet off and fold it up to fit in my jersey pocket... ?
- keep both hands on the handlebars except when signalling or changing gear
That has always been in the Highway Code, at least since I first read it 60+ years ago. Maybe it changed in the meantime! Also, according to the news, if you are in a car and turning into a side road and a pedestrian is waiting to cross the side road, you have to give way to the pedestrian.
Just as I was starting to type;Just realised, this thread has gone waaaaaaaaaaaay of topic
