How did the touchscreen swap go? I am starting to have issues with some parts of the screen not working when pressed, so want to get it replaced before it gets any worse.

That’s how mine started.

Ah no worries. I found various with that part number with an option of shiny or frosted.

I am going to attempt this repair when my screen arrives.

I am due to do it for a friend of mine, I have all required gear already.
I shall see how it goes.

Okay, so my input to the topic.

1. Don't use frosty version of digitaliser, use shiny only.
2. Not all shiny ones are the same.
Some shiny are actually a crap quality.
3. For best result don't use provided double sided sticky tape strips.
Remove them and use UV adhesive instead.

Few sample photos below.

I too atempted this repair with a screen purchased from ebay for £13.39 (TDO WVGA0633F00039 TDO WVGA0633F00045).

I followed the advice on this thread and a couple of youtube videos and it all went straightforward. I have fixed iphone screens in the past and would say this was far easier. There was an amount of tear down to get to the screen but all went okay and fully working again.

Remember to lay the replacement screen directly over the failed one. Do not try to remove the failed screen.

I would say to have a go yourself and save the couple of hundred quid it costs to have this done by 3rd party companies that advertise on here.

Just carried out the surgery on mine, very successfully. Thanks to all who contributed to the information.
I went with an eBay seller for the digitiser which came from China. Part numbers from earlier in the thread.
Sorry @Absolut5 my financial controller was insistent that I try this first. Appreciate the pricing and patience on the Kenwood and will be back if the repair fails.

Note on dismantling in addition to the guide above. When it came to getting the circuit board off the screen after removing all the screws it was still quite stuck. Took a while to find the small plastic clips next to each SD card holder.
Didn’t need to remove the holders just free the clips and the board came off.

great to hear… i’ve ordered the part from eBay, so hoping it doesn’t take too long to get here And i can have a go at it.

One thing I’ve not looked at… is it easy to get the head unit out?

You have to remove the vent trim that sits around the head unit first then its just four fasteners. Be careful when removing this trim as it can be broken. Use a wide plastic trim removing tool rather than a screwdriver. I would suggest watching a couple of youtube vids on this as they will show you where this panel is clipped in.

I've just completed this repair, thanks Dunk. I wasn't sure about disconnecting the CD player, so left that attached throughout. Popped the unit back in and it worked first time, result. Only two screws left over at the end :p

I’m in this situation now. Do you have the link for the better quality screen buddy?
And also what UV glue are you using?

It seems totally fine, no noticeable difference to the original apart from it works! :D

I am doing this replacement for a neighbours van with the same issue and he has purchased the same one as I linked above.

Looking to repair my composition media unit in my t6 that has the digitiser fault. Is the digitiser unit the same as the discovery media linked above so that would work in mine?

I don’t have access to a UV glue/lamp setup - is that going to cause me an issue ?
