Thanks for the info, interesting that SatNav systems wouldn't fit just the screen on it's own, did you get a price for screen and board replacement?
I think you are right, our units do seem very unreliable which is a shame because I really want to keep mine, I much prefer stock to after-market.
Something I forgot to mention above is that since I replaced my screen I have noticed that the overlay quite often appears when the reversing camera is on the display. The overlay is triggered by the proximity sensor so it shouldn't show unless a hand is near the head unit. I don't remember it doing this before the screen was replaced, and wouldn't have thought it would have anything to do with the screen.
I'm just going to sit tight for a while and see what happens. I read a post back on page 2 or 3 of this thread where someone said theirs was bad, or worse, when something was plugged into the USB. I've done a couple of short trips recently with nothing plugged into the USB and it has been absolutely fine with everything working as it should. I do plug my phone in on longer trips so we'll see what happens, I will report back.
Thats really bad news, what a shame you couldn't repair yours.... that would have been an excellent solution for very sensible money.
It will be interesting to hear if
@Pauly has any luck with his junk screen....
