OEM Webasto Auxiliary Heater To Parking Heater Upgrade

That's the one indeed. I like the longer distant to switch it on with an APP.
So there is no possibility to swtich on the heater with just a +12V signal?

Everything is possible mate but I didn't explore it any further so can't advise.
Telestart approach was simple and inexpensive, at least in my case.

My final coding (with 1 fault caused by missing overhead timer) is 5101.

Important settings to notice are as follows.
Byte 0 bit 0 activated - prevents flattening the battery
Byte 0 bit 2 deactivated - allows to heat engine and cabin simultaneously
Byte 0 bit 3 deactivated - front fan is controlled via CAN (for Cimatronic unit)
Byte 0 bit 4 activated & bit 5 deactivated - enables remote control via Telestart

Hi Robert, first of all many thanks for the great summary you've shared here!
I carefully read all your way towards this result. I have T6 Multivan MY2019 with pre-installed OEM Webasto.
Just ordered three components needed:
- 3Q0 963 513 - Telestart OEM form VAG
- 3G0 963 511 B - Remote to pair with the above
- the loom set with aerial for wiring the Telestart module under the front right seat.
Unfortunately, I don't have VCP, but found some chaps around to help me with re-flashing.
For adaptation Adapter 18, I have Carport that luckily do the change form 4101 to 5001 (or 5101 as in your last post). Just checked it.

The question is about overhead panel.
I don't have one in my T6. Today I checked that under the cover, there is no any wire to plug for the VAG 7E5 919 037 J (the latest panel version), that I can easily get on eBay.

Did you managed to get through this?
As I can see, the fault code you still have is exactly due to the absence of the overhead timer.

The overhead location is quite tight but I feel there should be the way to get the panel connected to the power and CAN-bus without entire roof cover removal.

Thanks for sharing thoughts!

I don't need timer so I purposely didn't install overhead unit. Remote only works 100% for my needs.
Installation of this overhead unit is very simple, just power supply and CAN wiring which can be ran through A pillar and there is no need to remove roof lining at all

See wiring below (4th picture).

Hi Robert, yes, this is exactly how I plan to do this.
It seems to me that both CAN links can be soldered directly to BCM T73b socket while +12DC and GND can be sourced somewhere nearby. I assumed that blue socket T10af in left A-pillar fuse/socket box doesn't exist in my case. (My T6 is LHD and therefore the BCM is on the left side)

Once panel is installed and properly connected, do I need any specific adaptation for it?

Many thanks again!
I will write the separate post once I'm done with this.

You just need to add your new unit in CAN Gateway(19) INSTALLATION LIST and then verify its own coding but default coding should work anyway.

Hi everyone, does anybody know if for T5.1 is the same wiring procedure? I own a T5.1 2011 without parking heater, only stationary. I intend to install the overhead module and to operate it by there.

Thanks in advance

Below an extract from a MY13 Transporter, which is similar to yours but with OEM overhead control panel and OEM remote. The part number of Webasto is different than yours, which leads me to believe it wouldn't be straight fit. I don't know if you could reflash yours to be the same.

However, here is a scan of a MY13 Amarok having the same Webasto as yours and this has an aftermarket control panel (an oval shaped Webasto) and a remote - so obviously doable. Even the "serial number" is the same.

I am also looking how to wire the overhead control panel. And maybe, after that, i can code with vcds the overhead control panel and the webasto unit with other version of flash. I think, the webasto is fizically the same. Only different software version.
Do you know where it is the overhead control panel wired? CAN i think .....but where exactly can be found?

Thanks

It's the unit J702 in chapter 63 >here<. Just convenience CAN bus and power. Depending on your vehicle the bus can be found e.g. next to the heater, connector T8aj (probably page 89/3 for your van).
Let us know how it goes.

PS.

I do not know why, i do not have access to the link from your post. I am banned to that site.
