Do you have to pay for a new v5? I just marked it up to change the number of seats and sent it off (with cert from converters). It didn't say anything about having to pay for this
Don’t start me off!

Agent didn't transfer ownership and get a new V5 sent to me until week before conversion was due. Only just in time for me to apply the private reg.

Of course, this means a new V5. It doesn't arrive in time for me to tax the van on pickup day. (of course, arrives day after, now useless!!)

You need the V5 (or equivalent ) to get the tax. If you don't have it, you can go to the Post Office and pay a bit extra to order a new V5 at the same time you pay for your tax. (had to go to two different POs, but that's another story).

13 weeks and still waiting.

Funny how quite a few people seem to be having problems with the DVLA at the moment.
I bought my van about five or six weeks ago and did the V5 change of ownership thing online. The new V5 was back with me within a week.
I bought a new registration for the van a couple of weeks after that and the retention certificate was with me within a week.
Missus had to renew her driving license a couple of weeks ago, you guessed it, new one back with her in about a week.

Mind you I've got a more 'descriptive' plate on my Honda S2000View attachment 75872
Always loved the S2000.....I used to have in early days before that wedge shaped thing with fake exhaust pipe came out a Civic type s with Penta alloys ...it flew and would rev so freely....that was when Honda built cars that didn’t get held back by emissions reg’s ..
sadly the S2000 fell foul of low demand high fuel costs and heavy competition from Mazda...but still a head turner.

Your missing the trick there.....being an intelligent ( and went to school so learnt to Communicate) owner , you did the V5 yourself..not a numpty that from what I’ve read cant spell has no concept of time..talks out there Bottom and claims to work for VW..
sorry ...there are some really helpful people out there so why can’t ALL of them work for VW not just some !

They take ten’s of thousands from hard working people with great ease... Im a champion of good service

My Vote would go to VWVC Liverpool :mexican wave:

I looked at a few last year but then the DVLA changed the rules so for now I don't want to loose my 'campervan' classification. Staying with my bog standard, invisible registration...

I can’t see them rescinding the status on vehicles already classed as a camper. It’d be interesting to check with someone who’s transacted with DVLA with a vehicle already registered as a camper just to check.

Don’t know your last initial Pete, but you could have - PE 54BRE for Pete Sabre or P* with your initial. Do it! Do it!

I have M/V status on my self converted Camper from 2017. I purchased a T6 private plate in 2019 sent it off got a new V5 and can confirm it's still shown as M/V

@$immo That’s good to know. I got mine in 2018, it’s a ‘motor caravan’ and put a private plate on it straight away so haven’t made any changes for 2 years.

Surely to change the body style back they would need to see evidence same as they did when it was allowed to be changed in the first place
@Sabre So does the name just come from your plate then? I did wonder

Yeah @$immo you will have, this is part of the last load of registration class changes at the end of last year. If you reregister a new plate you will become a Van with windows from what I read on the DVLA site and someone on here falling into the trap. I gave up, but I do like the PE 54BRE @Spaghetti !
