I can’t see them rescinding the status on vehicles already classed as a camper. It’d be interesting to check with someone who’s transacted with DVLA with a vehicle already registered as a camper just to check.

Don’t know your last initial Pete, but you could have - PE 54BRE for Pete Sabre or P* with your initial. Do it! Do it!

I changed onto a personal plate 3 weeks ago. Still motor caravan... Van was bought 3 weeks before that and wasn;t changed then when they issued the new V5 either. Original conversion was 2018.

I don't think they can cahnge the vehicle classification without it being reviewed and for all they know you may have fitted a hightop.. which seems to be their bug bear at the moment.

Yeah @$immo you will have, this is part of the last load of registration class changes at the end of last year. If you reregister a new plate you will become a Van with windows from what I read on the DVLA site and someone on here falling into the trap. I gave up, but I do like the PE 54BRE @Spaghetti !

Mine wasn't changed back when I bought the van in June or when I put the plate on in July..

I've got a couple on my cars but related to my surname, I wouldn't get a car specific one as it then is harder to transfer. As the name suggests it should be personal to you, I do hate those one that are altered to try and look like something else, just trying a bit too hard IMO. Im quite happy I got both mine for £600 all in. C10 ULL was not available.

Can anyone advise the best way for me to value and sell a private reg please ??
Inherited one and have no interest.
Cheers

Depends how unique it is and how much some one wants it. DVLA start at £250 with all the reg fees included. One I looked at but was a 16 and my van was a 65 so was not available was £600. There are a few sellers on the web who will possibly give you a price and sell it for you. Some plates fetch silly money. Do a private number plates for sale search to get a better idea.

Most of the major dealers will buy plates, but they’re not going to give you what they think it’s worth as they have to make a profit.
As said above, I’d look at what similar plates are going for and take it from there.

I bought a plate for Mrs Spaghetti many moons ago, and we’ve married since then, and it’s no longer right as she’s changed her name, and I keep getting emails from regtransfers asking if I want to sell it.

I haven’t bothered looking into it as I don’t imagine it’s particularly valuable.

it’s in the format X YY ZZZ with the numbers recurring.

Regtransfers and the like don't buy number plates, they sell them on your behalf. They'll give you an initial valuation then advertise it and come back to you with offers. Just like estate agents.

I can't see any security risk in telling us what it is. After all, it has been displayed on the vehicle for all to see.

If it was A1 DAN I would have made a serious offer - my sons name!

Looking on DVLA there are quite a few A1 ??? Registrations available, with random letters for £495. None have any ‘meaning’ which makes yours unique.

I'd do a search for companies that it might relate to and drop them an email.

I reckon to someone that want's it, it's £1000 all day long.

Stick it up for £995, someone will probably bite if the initials mean something to them

Any reg with A1 will certainly gain interest ....

there’s a very old Toyota around here with H1 as it’s reg number!

Those sort of plates often get handed down through the generations. Great Grandad would have had it on his new car back in the day. Probably had the choice of plates at no extra cost too, so has passed it on down, along with his overcoats and eiderdowns.
