This search doesn’t show the plate I want even though the DVLA says it’s been issued (I guess not registered to a vehicle).
They sent me this link, my plates are LEGAL
In particular this stands out;
On or after 28 September 2021
You will need to display a UK sticker clearly on the rear of your vehicle if your number plate has any of the following:
If your number plate includes the UK identifier with the Union flag (also known as the Union Jack), you do not need a UK sticker.
- a GB identifier with the Union flag (also known as the Union Jack)
- a Euro symbol
- a national flag of England, Scotland or Wales
- numbers and letters only - no flag or identifier
If you’re in Spain, Cyprus or Malta, you must display a UK sticker no matter what is on your number plate.
If you have a GB sticker, cover or remove it.View attachment 129986View attachment 129987

@czmate1999 not exactly rightJust logged in again. lots of activity here. So to clarify as above. If you show GB on your number plate you will need a separate UK sticker or you can buy, from amazon as per above, stickers that fit your number plate.

Hi,@czmate1999 not exactly right
in France you can use a UK sticker even though you have a GB or SCO or EU badge showing on your number plate, BUT YOU MUST COVER UP THE GB SCO EU in Spain and Cyprus
About as difficult as our internal wrangling when coming up with the new scheme, in fairness! Can you put the phrase “dog’s dinner” in a sentence?!!!Hi,
trust the spanish and Cypriots to be difficult .

Same rules apply as with mainland UK …. I refer the reader to my “dog’s dinner” comment above!Does anyone know what is required in Northern Ireland? I regularly travel with vehicle over to Scotland.... Vehicle has GB registration with GB and EU stars..... Guessing couple of options?
@JOG yip exactly! When did life become so complicated! No mention of Northern Ireland anywhere.... Just Ireland! Can't imagine them clamping done much over here! Will have it bottomed out for christmas trip to the homeland, lol!Same rules apply as with mainland UK …. I refer the reader to my “dog’s dinner” comment above!
Erm, Northern Ireland is technically part of the UK! (No wish to open a debate as we are apolitical on this forum!!!)@JOG yip exactly! When did life become so complicated! 100% with you. Apologies if I offended anyone unintentionally. Just hard to keep up. My plates will be fine.... Just need a UK sticker or cover GB like earlier member suggested!Erm, Northern Ireland is technically part of the UK! (No wish to open a debate as we are apolitical on this forum!!!)
There is a great YouTube clip of a member of the “transient workforce” in Dublin spannering off a wheel and removing the clamp. They couldn’t touch him as he did nothing illegal.
When I was growing up (4 miles south of the border by road, 1/2 a mile in a straight line) we never had a parking problem or a traffic warden problem. Every so often a new one would rock up and put a clamp on! Only once mind! The next day he’d rock up and the clamp would stay in his van! But, they were nice about it and pretend to rush to move their cars etc!!!
No offence! If you aren’t crossing the border you shouldn’t need to do anything. However, pick up a cheap sticker on the web and keep it in your glovebox. Then you have it handy to use if you need to100% with you. Apologies if I offended anyone unintentionally. Just hard to keep up. My plates will be fine....
