I’m just wondering, has anyone ever had any success at selling a private reg. I’ve had mine for 15 years and after about 6 approached a company, think they were called something like newreg transfers and they valued it at 1600. After a year they asked what would I accept which I said a grand year later same question again I said 250 as there was a plate I wanted. Another year went by and they asked again. I didn’t even reply, I thought at the rate I was going id be settling on a box of Quality Street. It was back when you could only keep a plate on retention for 2 years.
I sold a plate 6 months ago. In my experience, the online outfits overestimate the value to get you to sign up and then try to get you to part with it for less (so they still get their oversized cut). I sold it along with the car it was on (separately), so consider that a stroke of luck:)

Does it have to be your name part of my plate has BLL on it and cost me 250. We had one Suzuki Swift 4x4 which had S44WFT on it sold it with the plate, In should have kept the car for myself. Loved the thing
Our runaround is a 4x4 Ignis which is a hoot to drive.

Ready to transfer a plate on to my new T6 ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.... S40oky Or VW1 10ue. (Vw11oue) (s40oky) mmmmmmmmm not shure

Rat on a BMW. Bet your not popular, some riders are very up their own arse (GS mainly)
;)

Ex MOD Harley MT350 that use a Rotax single. Mine has a 604 Rotax fitted from an old CCM. They are essentially the same engine and share the same mounting points so easy ish fit.

I agree that there are some "wrong'uns".

I used these guys:
Number Plate Valuations – Sell A Number Plate!

See their comments on the link - if memory serves they ask for a fixed commission (£50 or there abouts)

And no, I am not affiliated or on referral :) Just sharing.

Of course the same as anything (houses etc), you are just waiting for the right buyer - probably even harder with Reg's

I emailed DVLA and got this reply for my plate request -

Thank you for your enquiry received on 7/2/2018.
Your case reference number is 0046****.

I appreciate you contacting us to confirm the availability of this registration.

I can confirm that this registration has not yet been issued or sold. This means that it may become available for sale in a future DVLA auction.

Registration numbers in this format are usually allocated an approximate £250 reserve, however this will ultimately be decided by the Auction Management Team when the number is selected for sale.

The total cost of a registration purchased at a DVLA auction consists of the following:

• the hammer price (price at which the auctioneer’s hammer comes down) plus VAT
• the auctioneer's buyer's premium of 8% (minimum of £40)
• VAT on the buyer’s premium
• DVLA £80 assignment fee

For example, if the hammer price for a registration is £250, then the total cost payable would be £428.00. However, it is impossible to estimate how much this registration will ultimately sell for as this will depend on demand on the day of the auction.

Due to the popularity of our auctions, I would not be able to advise you on a timescale for a registration to be selected for auction.

If you would like to proceed with this registration through a DVLA auction, please respond and I can arrange for it to be included in a future sale for you (subject to further checks).

Should you wish to know any more about DVLA auctions, please visit our website www.dvlaregistrations.direct.gov.uk.

I look forward to hearing from you.
