Thanks all.
I gave it a charge earlier so we will see how it holds up.
It went down to 11.8 in just a week from the previous charge.
It has a tracker so I thought maybe it's that.
But I just checked it through out the day and it's down at 0.07 amps while asleep
so seems about right.

I wonder if the callis have a larger ah battery.

0.07A is 70mA - which is high

anything above 35mA/50mA will trigger the quiescent current monitor for a stock van (without tracker + USB kit etc).

But as you say you have a tracker, which will be drawing power. . . . . so 70mA may be ok.

@mmi has made more detailed reseach into the mA draw of items and at which point they trigger the alarm.

FYI i have a tracker and USB chargers etc plus the VW Connect OBD Plug and dont normally get a battery drain warning.

I have the Varta AGM starter battery.

the van will run flat after 2-3weeks if not started.

to get around it i have small solar for summer . . . and occastionally charge via EHU in winter (and normally switch off staop/start)

why not start with a battery monitor to see whats going on long-term? the CTEK and BM2 are very popular.

Perfect thanks something like the ctek would be good to have, a monitor may be great for preventing any future damage.
The meters at 0.2 at rest, I just ordered some fuses for the mA line as I must have blown one before.
So could well be at 50mA
I dont have a garage but I mite just get an outdoor socket fitted.

It was last winter that killed the moll i think.
Never had any bother in 7 year with the t5 but it had a 110ah.

Interesting thread and something i'm going to have to deal with as mine will be an occasional camper....

@Dellmassive - Do you leave this connected all the time..? CTEK 40-149 Vehicle Battery Monitor

Yes, they hardwired to the battery.

Though I've since swapped over to the BM2 units
..

Again both hadwired, I have two on the van, one on the starter battery and one on the leisure battery...

Thanks @Dellmassive . I've got a 25W trickle charge solar panel that plugs into the cigarette lighter... At least with this monitoring system it will give me an idea if its providing enough trickle charge to stay topped up between trips.... probably get a mains trickle charger for back up through the gloomy winter days...

Recommendations for starter battery and supplier for a T6 Euro5 with stop start? Also running a Lithium leisure with Sterling DC DC charger and solar controller. Existing is a Varta 68Ah 380A. Do I need an AGM for stop start? Should I upgrade Ah?

Also any easy way to trickle charge starter battery from solar?

I discussed this with @Dellmassive a few months back and he had a suggestion..:

Hi,

My starter battery is has been having issues for quite a while and I need to replace it. It's a varta 68ah in a 2016 eu5 with start stop.

I understand I need to reprogram the new battery in with vcds which I don't have. Or do I have £450 to spare. If I order a replacement varta (the smallest silverline is now 70ah) do I still need to reprogram it? It's not exactly like for like but it's pretty close. I suspect I still do but I need a new battery pronto.

You could always go to a auto electrical shop, car spares or Halfords even

Let Halfords fit it and code it you
Not sure but I think they charge £25

I’m sure somebody on hear will sort you
