Exactly the same, hate house bashing and charge double what it would have originally cost to change a pendant to a light fitting when they connect all the blacks and reds together and wonder why it goes bang (now brown and blue, god I hate the new colours!). Everyone thinks its easy till it goes wrong or up in flames.
Thats my personal favourite, when you turn at the house and the husband is hiding upstairs and the wife tells you "my husband changed the light fitting and it was working" i always think man up and face me !
The bit that gets me, you would think when taking the old light down they would look at the cables and see that all the reds/browns and all the blacks/blues were not connected together.
Im a pretty experienced sparks but if im taking something apart that has multiple cables/colours connected or something out of the norm i always get the phone out and take a snap, saved my arse many a time when putting it back together several days/weeks later !

Ditto, that camera snap saves many a future head scratch.

Been doing it for 32 years now and I can honestly say I am still amazed at the things I see in peoples houses they do and think are fine, rather than spend a few extra pounds and keep their family safe. Its like guying the cheapest possible tyres to ferry your children around, you just wouldn't or shouldn't its a false economy.

I tend to do most of the callouts in work and cover a few letting agencies and it is absolutely amazing what people will do and dont seem bothered when you point out how dangerous it is.
Nothing like a bit of bell wire connected in to sockets or deciding that earth wires have no purpose and shouldnt be connected

Andythom being as you do solar panels on an industrial scale, have you got em on the t6 roof as I was thinking of having it done and wired straight to the h4 headlights
No solar panels on my t6 roof as of yet but give me time  them H4s are very powerful how many candle power are they

An electrical fault almost certainly caused this to happen...

I can honestly say as a "specialist fire investigator" that whenever I'm not sure, I always give the ole head a scratch, a suck on the top of me pen, and chalk it up as electrical!;)

I always wanted to put it down to "spark from passing loco" but never got chance!

Do you still get houses with red & black wireing I thought it was all brown n blue now. My place was rewired a few years ago though I was not over impressed with the electrician's who were used after we found some loose wires. The lights went out when a plasterer undid a light switch to skim behind it. The screws were not done up on the wires, mind you the Plummers were worse. I try and do but I had to get the sparky back to check out a led down light that had gone (JCC) as he said if it went before it was ten years old he would get it replaced problem is they changed the design and won't honour the gareentee so I waiting for the new one he had to order. Most electrical jobs round the house are not that hard if you use a bit of common sense trouble is people seem to have forgotten how to use it though if I'm not sure about it then I will get some one in who knows what to do.

I have actually had the opportunity to do that! We get steamers out of the Didcot steam museum that head north, and one day got to chase the embankment fires as it went up through the county.

@BiTurbo hey buddy, long time no speak!
just wondering how you were getting on with the full conversation and how the trips are going since we last spoke at Telford.
