The bolt needs shroud cause the VW bolt can easily be removed with a pair of grips. Don't think you're safe with just the bolt.

As above. Went to fit a collar I'd bought to stop a mole grip attack. There's just standard wheel bolts. Should the vehicle come with locking type?
I'll buy some tomorrow anyway.

There are two lengths available, short and long depending on what wheels you have, if you have devonports then should be the long one circa 92mm thread length

As above  mine is still in the box , van is never out of my sight so not much chance of it being nicked really :)

sorry for the dumb question but does the shops locking bolt replace the bolt that's there or go in the other hole next to it. I have a steel 16in spare on my highline t6 and the bolt in there is approx 70mm but the hole next to it isflush up against the thread.

I can post a picture if it helps. but from looking this spare has never moved and the van is only 8mnths old with 7k on it.

The spare wheel carrier has two bolts; One is removable and this is the one you replace with the locking bolt the other lowers the carrier and then stops.

Mine has 2 bolts, one is captive (left I think) and the other (right I think) can be removed.
The locking bolt replaces the one that can be removed.

thanks for the quick replies, it looks like mine is missing ! brilliant. glad I asked.

Ok from looking at it the carrier is touching the threaded section of the chassis, therefore I think I need to order the short one.

thanks everyone

The dimensions are the length of the threads from the underside of the bolt head

I did wonder if the spare wheels got pinched off these vans, as they are so obvious from behind.
I purchased 5 alloys, to use 1 as a spare (OCD, and couldn't bare the thought of an odd wheel if I got a flat)
Anyway, i'm going to remove the spare and the fixings this weekend, if it doesn't leave a huge gaping gap from the rear, and look odd.
The chippy that's currently custom boarding my van out, has allowed for a space inside the rear of the van for my spare alloy, so it will live in there, with a proper jack.
