Ok
The ST shocks in a galvanised case same as the KW in stainless case
So are in theory a great buy

Great buy compared to what ? , B14 , yes i would say so, definately better buy than a B14 . neither of them have damping adjust ability but the ST would be more comfortable because its a dual tube shock and its slightly cheaper .?? also if memory serves they do the same lowering range 40 to 70mm

Money isn’t the issue really
It’s just finding the correct product for said purchase
If I bought a pair of jeans and didn’t like them I could return them
But it doesn’t work same for the shocks

It is like buying jeans Andy . If you dont like anything i recommend send it back with pleasure , Ill refund 100 % ( as long as you haven't used them for a year he he)
By the way i am a KW Performance partner ( there are only a few in UK ) KW damper technology is very much based on the same KONI philosophy because in the early years of KW their coil overs were also using KONI inserts . This relationship stopped a long time ago but i come back to my point about incestuous industry .

What results are you hoping for ? what height, what ride quality, and most important what do you want to spend ?

Thanks
So are Kw not the brand it was, not moved on with the times so to speak

I appear to be late to the party - apologies.

The guys at Twin Monotube Projekt (worth a google) wanted to clarify CRS comments on their coilover.
*Unedited*

"no the dampers in the Twin-Adjust coiloverkits has nothing to do with the standard KONI dampers. These dampers are developed by Twin-Monotube-Prroject with completely different setup and open + closed length + enlarged travel etc , based at our unique experience with tens of thousands VW T5 / T6 Bilstein B14 which were developed for our company in 2011 plus the Bilstein B6 KOMFORT dampers ( Bilstein green) , our electronic adjustable, active TWIN-MONOTUBE-PROJEKT DCC plug&play coiloverkits and dampers . And to offer the best possible setup also it is essential to have the besst possible springs for which the dampers are also developed re. "harmonization " are developed for."

So in short no, the Twin Adjust Projekt is not just the Koni special shock. It does indeed need to be removed to be able to adjust the rebound dampening, however, as these are preset at the most comfortable set up out the box and been tested vigorously on all Transporters in Germany including the heavy factory Cali's, it was found that the rebound was not required to be adjusted. However, it's there incase someone prefers some tuning options.

They have considerable experience in the industry. Helping develop the B14's back in 2011 for Bilstein. This latest kit is an evolution on that and is undoubted quality throughout.

Of course the other benefit with this kit as mentioned above is the excellent Eibach springs which offer great comfort and do not suffer from spring sag or fracture which can be an issue on some coilover kits especially on heavy vans..

If the TAPS kit is fitted by one of our approved dealers, there is a 5 year warranty on the springs and 2 years on the dampers. PM us for the list of dealers if interested.

Also worth noting the MAX LOW version also offers a very impressive ride, still maintaining a comfortable set up even at full drop and has a adjustable ride height of 50-90mm and is fully TUV approved.

Both Comfort and Max Low kits are currently only available for the T26-T30 front hub fitment, however Koni are finalising the T32 version and will soon be available to pre order once TUV testing has been completed within the next month or two.

Brett

Hi,
Brett thanks for your input
Has anybody noticed spring sag or fracture on springs / coil overs they have
Only asking as I want to get this purchase of coil overs right this time

Several instances of b14 rear springs snapping the bottom coil if they are the same?

Iv got a t6 t32 on airride now. I could carry 400kg of goods in the back of my t5 with the b14s so kinda give them a hard time..

Brett,

Are the TAPS similar to B14,s or a different beast
Trying to achieve a nice ride not harsh / crashy and less role with out ARB,s

Andy

I think a lot depends on your wheel size and tyres so consider that. On 20”s Bognor has posted many times the best tyre size. I do think tyre brand makes a big difference too.

also consider what you are trying to achieve. WhenI put my B14s on I was running a stock suspension on a LWB camper fully converted. In the wet it was all over the place and the front sat very high, this was my main problem that I needed sorting. I did not want the van to sit on the floor as this is impractical for a camper but this was the only solution that would definatel deal with my issue. Nowadays there are a lot of options available to solve that problem.

after B14s I also fitted the H&R anti roll bar. If I had my time again I would fit the H&R but would definitely try other options rather than just coil overs.

final point is I do think B14s perform better at speed than around town.

just my 10ps worth

Andy and anyone else looking for Coilover info

Hi I don’t normally post on forums but thought I would share my limited knowledge on the suspension I have fitted over the last few years
So may help with your decisions on Coilovers.

Over the last few years I’ve fitted different setups. Vw sportline springs to standard shocks. This lowered the van but we’re too firm on the ride so changed to the Caravelle or (light) Vw Spring. This was an improvement being a Beach the Axle weight was fine for this.
Then I fitted B8 Bilstein Shocks with Vw sportline springs. Very good ride and much more comfortable to standard shocks and felt great on long trips to France loaded/unloaded.

Last month I fitted Chilli Jam Vans Komfort Twin Monotube Projekt Coilovers to the Beach with drop Approx 50-60mm.
These are great, well made and fit great.
I still have plenty to go on lowering but don’t need too.
I’ve decided to play around and adjust and test during this month and have found a good setup.
These are very comfortable for a lowered setup, they soak up the bumps and give a reassuring ride. (3 kids in the back agree)
I’ve Not needed to adjust the rebound at all so would recommend these for anyone who is unsure of what to get and want some sort of adjustable setup. It’s easy to adjust to suit the needs of the van and you.
Again it is limited to what I have fitted above. I’m a qualified vehicle technician by main dealer and used to build modified cars so have some experience with suspension setting up but not exclusively. Hope this helps anyone who is unsure.

Hi Andy, different beast mate. The only real similarities is the height adjustment range of 40-70mm and the fact they are been developed by the same company in partnership with different suspension manufacturers. They use a koni dual tube damper as opposed to the monotube damper. These will and do offer a more refined and comfortable ride in supplied set up out the box. As previously mentioned this can be adjusted should a firmer sportier setup be required.
