I've read a lot about suspension on here since I bought my van and it's a subject I follow with interest. For reference I currently run B14s on their lowest setting, with rear adjuster rings removed and machined top front mounts to get just a touch lower. I like the look and the ride is acceptable with excellent handling.

For me, if I was looking for suspension again, the choices become pretty simple once I look at the specific requirements and costs, looking for quality, but value for money. There are a few scenarios I guess, and what I would choose for each are laid out below and applies to campers, Kombis, PVs etc.

1. Up to 50mm lowering and looking for comfort but much better body control: For this I would go with CRS and one of his sport shocks and matched lowering spring combos. I've driven a van with B14s set at highest setting which was approx 50mm lowering and it was fantastic, but the B14s are quite a bit more expensive than Steve's offering and every review of his setup has been massively positive. That's not always the case with B14s depending on who you talk to.

2. Approx 50-80mm lowering looking for a good stance and great handling: This is the most competitive part of the market I think, but CRS would win this one again and I would go with the H&R/Koni damping adjustable coilover kit. Yes, it's more expensive than B14s, but you're getting damping rate adjustable, proper coilovers, not just a threaded sleeve over kit like B14s. The H&R/Koni are also dual tube so must be more comfortable than high pressure monotube B14s. The ST KW kit or the Chilli Jam options look good in this bracket too, but the additional features of the H&R/Koni kit from Steve at CRS would win for me. I don't know of another product on the market for the T6 that has all the features of the H&R/Koni kit that Steve can supply at that kind of price. They look a really high quality item too.

3. Maximum static Low: Only really one option here for me and that's SoLow from THQ. Everyone who has them that I have either spoken to in person, or seen posts from has said how good they are at providing a good quality ride and handling whilst getting your van really low.

In summary, I wouldn't fit B14s again. Now that's not because I'm not happy with them, I am, they ticked all the boxes I needed them to when I ordered them and they continue to be just what I wanted. The ride is very good and I would only complain on the absolute worst road surfaces. That is, of course, subjective though. Why wouldn't I get them again? Simply because there are now other options out there for similar money that look to be a better product.

In response to that. I’ve ran B14s and am now on SoLows. I’m more than happy with these so far.

I have just had the @CRS Performance kit fitted and although I can’t compare it against the over options on your list as I have no experience but I did have the 30mm springs fitted with the standard shocks and I can confirm that the CRS kit is a massive improvement so I would say it’s definitely worth investing in a quality product and so avoid buying twice!

Can vouch for the H&R Deep kit as an alternative to the SoLows too. I bought mine before the SoLows came out but I have been very happy with them. They replaced Van Slams and are far more comfortable even at a much lower ride height.

Pretty sure Transporter HQ have no intention of restocking them now they make the SoLows though as they are a competing product with a higher RRP... You can get them elsewhere though.

Yes only I can make the decision
But there’s more than one supplier wanting to take my money
Even if there product is the right one

Speak to a suspension specialist about what you require.
Everyone on here including myself will 90% of the time push the product they run because they want to justify the reason/price they got it.
A true suspension specialist will fit what is required not what is fashionable.
I run Koni/H&R coilovers from Steve @CRSPerformance and regardless of what price i paid I'm over the moon with them. Night and say difference from the -40mm springs i had on before. However it was the phone calls with Steve that sold me. Very knowledgeable guy and he pointed me in the right direction for the 65-70mm drop i wanted which just happened to be coilovers.
Just my opinion......but speak to a few suspension specialist on the phone and hopefully you will arrive at the correct set up for you.
My suspension search went on for 6 months before i decided.

As I've said many many times Please try and get out and test the suspension you are about to sink your hard earned cash on. There are many options out here now, which is great for a consumer, as you have so much choice, maybe even too much. But a road test is important, as one persons definitions of sporty, comfortable, or less body roll etc, will be completely different to yours.

Good luck with your search, and as everyone knows on this forum I’m always happy to talk through options, or pop in and see us for a coffee as we run 3-4 different suspension Setups On different at any one time for you to try.

Presenlty we have available for test drive;

Bilstein B14 Coilovers
ST X Coilovers
H&R Springs
Eibach Pro Street Coilover
KWV3 Coilover - Coming soon on our new T6.1 demo :)

We are also an agent for Twin Projekt via @Chilli Jam Vans

Are The shocks and springs @CRS Performance the same ones as those at @Chilli Jam Vans
Both shocks are made by KONI but not really the same at all , KONI height adjustable kit is a proper coil over kit with a full threaded body with damping adjustment mounted on car. The Chillijam kit is a hybrid sleeve over and has to be removed for adjustment . The main difference is that the Coil over kit uses a KONI sport insert with top adjustment ( see picture ) and the Project Mono twin ? uses the normal special shock as its base .

Am I right saying that yours have the threads on the actual tube and dual shock
Chilli,s are a sleeve around a standard shock
Both adjust hieght in both same way

Hope these pictures show more clearly what i am saying . The KONI special shock is the complete one with standard spring seat , The Project twin tube Is a KONI Special shock with the spring seat removed and a spigot where the sleeve over sits , . The stainless one is a fully threaded body with a KONI sport damper inside, this can offer more lowering capability because the body is shorter and it comes with its own hi performance short BUMP stop to maximise travel and offer 50 to 80 mm drops . the other 2 use standard bump stops and lower 40 to 70 on the Project mono twin and 40 to 50 on the full shock . ?? Hope that makes sense

The Coil over kit is engineered and produced by H&R In Germany with TUV approval but the shocks inside are KONI . Much the same as Eibach use KW shocks in there coil over kit that is sold by VW .
The big players in the suspension business dont make everything they sell , H&R and EIBACH make springs, KONI and Bilstein ,make shocks and the incestuous industry mixes and matches a lot of the parts in to various Kits .
