So what you are saying is I may as well risk it with a vw dealership and have the back up if any of the above were to happen , rather than a ‘premium ‘ aftermarket company

No, I would rather have one of the 3 mentioned in the post above fit rather than a VW main dealer, and without putting words in @Insert Coin 's mouth is what he is saying also.

Not really, the long and the short is that many people will remove the hard earned from your pocket, but few know what they are doing. I wouldn't be letting a VW dealer fit anything more than the basics and many premium companies are in fact a joke. Go by word of mouth on here, see the dealers I have linked to who know what they are doing.

Personally I prefer to have an expert that installs suspension on a very regular basis than use my local dealership even if they have a great reputation because on the day they are fitted you don't know whether they are being fitted by an expert technician or an apprentice!

People like Bognor / CRS have a lot to lose if they provide a poor service and they want to obtain a regular source of sales from sites like these and they spend an lot of time providing help, guidance, etc on the forum so I think they deserve our respect and support.

And ....... do your own research to check out the forum suppliers.

There was a tongue in cheek emoji at the end of my post ... but didn’t appear !

Those pics above are pretty shocking , they clearly haven’t done an alignment on it ... probably the toe was way out to cause that much damage / wear in that little time .

The problem I have is that I’d like to keep the vw warranty intact . I’ve had issues where genuine equipment has been put on but not by authorised dealers , a problem occurs and they wiggle out of claim due to a 3rd party fitting the parts . Admittedly this wasn’t VW but Porsche .... what’s people opinions on this , or better still first hand experience with it ?

Yeah all main dealers will try to find a way to wriggle out of warranty claims. To be fair there's not much to go wrong on the suspension that you couldn't just get fixed by whoever fitted your suspension in the first place.

With a straight face I was told -

You don't need to align a vehicle after B14's have been fitted, mine was the first one they'd ever had issues with, they said I'd probably kerbed it.

102 load rated tyres are actually capable of carrying more than 850 kilo's, that's what the extra load means.

And they didn't round off my locking wheel nuts, somebody must have tried to steal them.

All the above was absolute cobblers obviously.

But this is the dilemma I’ve got ... if I get a reputable company to fit the vw eibach coilovers and it still voids the warranty , it’s pointless paying a premium for them . May as well get the csr H&R / Koni set up , as this is basically what I’m after ( better ride and 40mm lower ) I have the eibach 30mm springs on which I had vw fit before I bought the van and I can already feel they are pretty crap . But I did get them basically for free , as I haggled the price of the van down a bit

If you change your suspension from standard. The supplier of the suspension is liable if the suspension goes wrong. If you have other issues outside the suspension and VW decline your claim, due to you changing the suspension, then VW legally have to prove that changing the suspension directly caused the fault you are claiming on warranty for. If they can't, then whatever your warranty claim is would still legally stand.

If you want to fit coilovers and you do not fit Eibach, it would still be impossible for VW to legally claim coilovers are a warranty problem as they themselves sell them. Having said that, you would want to ensure that you stay within the drop range VW offer with Eibach and that you use a TUV approved fitment for the Transporter you have i.e. T32, T30 etc.

I have a 5 year warranty term on mine and have been nowhere near a main dealer, not even for servicing (I actually drive 1.5hrs each way to Bognor Motors). If you want issues, the best way to guarantee them is going to a main dealer  As a minimum, your bodywork certainly won't look the same after your main dealer visit !!

As per Insert Coin's comment above, many people on this Forum have £60k+ Kombi's and main dealers trying to service as many basic Commercial vans a day as they can is not where you want your own vehicle to be for anything, let alone a specialist job like suspension that they might do once a year :unsure::cautious:

Must be different in VW land then , as in Porsche world if you change anything it voids the warranty . Even if it has nothing to do with what went wrong , fitting anything other than Porsche stuff even down to the battery voids the lot . Crazy

I made changes to my focus St and asked ford for clarification. The said it was ok and wouldn't void warranty.
I put a oilcatcher on.....aftermarket alloys and wheel spacers.....an air filter and crossover pipe......also put aftermarket reverse camera and syncyed it with stereo....they were fine with it all.
With this stuff on i even had a new gearbox fitted at 15k because 2nd gear syncro failed. I had no issues at all with warranty.
I was told they have to prove that said item caused the problem not to pay out.

Thanks for all your kind words all, we work hard to be ahead of the game.

Can I just point out that the Eibach suspension that you are on about does not effect your VW warranty, whether fitted by us or any other reputable garage, as long its fitted correctly.

But also that has been mentioned, any decent suspension kit will come with its own warranty anyway.

HTH clear things up a bit.

Yep ... I know, Porsche do take that stance. However, unless you sign something when you buy that somehow exonerates them from UK consumer law, like everyone, they are bound by that law. The difference is, the majority of the public are unaware and are 'bullied' into submission by large Corporates, which allows their behaviour to continue to pervade. I'm a fan of Lawyers and have had successful outcomes against both VW and Land Rover in that respect.

At the end of the day, the mods you make are going to be down to what you are comfortable with anyway.

Now we've done Coilovers, shall we start on re-maps :laugh::laugh: ;)
