What this a cancelled order ???

It really makes no sense at all but this has been said before I suppose.

Congratulations on the new van when it arrives

if it is cancelled order that fine, i'll check build spec when i pick it up to see dates
im not sure how they are allocated?

Thanks @lauraj.

Very similar to mine, except I've gone for an electric tailgate and a detachable tow-bar. Who'd have thought those 2 additions could cause such delays (dealer reckons I won't see mine until June and he told me that prior to the Ukraine invasion).
I've recently hijacked a convertors van slot that was already on order and changed the spec. The one thing on my long list of options they could no longer add was the power latching on the tailgate, so must be having issues with that one! Power latching for the sliding door was ok though. The dealer did say they'd keep an eye on it and try to add it at a later date...fingers crossed, but not holding my breath on that or seeing it this year as they reckon!

Ordered top spec 4 motion, twin sliders lots extras February 2021.
Just been told by the Listers VW " Currently most vehicles are back to "no build week" but I'll update you as soon as this changes."

No surprise there, might just wait now for a Buzz.

Interesting. Makes sense to me (as a layman) that power latching is an integral part of an electric tailgate.

I wouldn't mind, but I could easily live with a manual tailgate and I hesitated before ticking that option .

Interesting thought… I’ve been considering the same myself recently. I’m just hoping the ID Buzz isn’t as fugly in the flesh!
I heard of a dealer offering someone several £000s to not take their newly arrived van. If that happened to me I’d be very tempted.
For now, 6 months and waiting…

I have a brand new unused LWB very hi spec kombi for sale if anyone wants to avoid the chaos and have a van straight away

Had a call from Ashford this morning. The expected story - on the plus side the discounts stay in place, on the negative the RRP rises will come in, and no update on a build week yet. Ordered November 2021.
I guess I’ll be getting a call soon! What did they exactly say, what is the cut off for RRP rises?

End of March, and they’ll let me know how much. About 1k + vat so far, but likely to be a little more.
My dealer reckons there's an April price rise on the way - percentage increase as yet unknow.

Unfortunately not, vehicles not registered this month have price protection removed and you pay the going rate at time of delivery :(

We're OK though if we already ordered. No price rise for us, just a longer wait.
No. If your van hasn't been delivered before the end of March, you will pay the list price effective on the date of delivery (minus any previously agreed dealer discount).

I’m not entirely sure on this, it could depend on the way the van was funded. My van has been at status 20 for about 3 weeks now and I’ve ask my dealer more than once about the possible price rise. They have be adamant I will not be charged more than the price agreed when I ordered and placed my deposit. I’m sceptical with everything I’ve read and I’ll update depending on the outcome.

Okay, that may be true, but what I posted above is what I was told by my dealer and several others on this thread have been told the same by their dealers. I'm not using finance to fund my van, so perhaps that's a differentiator(?), although I'm pretty sure I've seen people who are using finance that have had the same conversations with their dealers.

Anyone who’s van build:delivery falls outside of the March price protection, a well worded email and or a phone call to VW Customer service would be my advice :)

Also the factory is presently closed due to the wiring harness issue so I suspect build projections to go from 18-24 months very quickly.

To put numbers into perspective and how’s it’s effected us , as a rental company we normally have around 100 new rental vans a year - this year our allocation from VW (before the Ukraine invasion) has been cut to just 13 vans! A similar story from Ford….

Retail wise for our own stock, we probably take a similar number of vans, if not more than rental. We still have 80-100 retail vans on order and not a single one has a build week allocated as they just keep cancelling them and moving them about. Some have been on order over a year.

Customer and retail orders have been taking priority over rental company orders as VW make more money.

However to have peace restored in the Ukraine is far more important than van deliveries IMHO, and they are all in our thoughts and prayers for a swift end to this invasion.
