T6.1 new order delays

We had a load of our orders slip between 2-5 weeks back yesterday. This is across all models, retail and rental - I was told today that at the start of the year VW UK had over 7000 unallocated orders, so it could take a time to catch up!!

Yes its very frustrating at present!
This story got more coverage today and appears to be causing problems across manufacturers. Seems vehicle manufacturers scaled back orders last year when they thought new vehicle demands would drop due to Covid.Is this why my van is taking ages to be built....

Meanwhile the market for micro chips for phones and laptops has jumped due to working from home - bottom line, vehicle manufacturer are smaller customers in the grand scheme and are now at the back of the queue for extra supplies.
You’d like to think it'll be temporary, but delays of some sort seem inevitable. Question is, how long and how widespread?
Well happenned to pop past my dealers to have a look to see if there are any stock vans available to save me waiting for eternity. Beadles Chelmsford. There was a very pretty swb panel van in black that has just is about to get the leather done so wondered if its someone on here's new van...very nice looking. They have a lwb Starlight Blue kombi available that the customer has cancelled , also a swb ex Demo kombi in Ravenna Blue that has a few trinkets on it. Then we got chatting (Outside) about build weeks. Salesman went in to see latest and came back with provisional week 16 ffs. Thats 30 weeks from order more than double the estimate at quote and 4 weeks longer than my last info. It wont be long before VW could attach Morgan badges to these vans.
If I was head of VW commercials I'd be kicking ass to resolve these issues what ever they are. It would be nice if they came clean and kept their customers in the loop.
Looking at Bongors statement of 7000 vans in backlog, if they are an average of 25k each thats 175,000,000 it would hurt if they were all cancelled, and thats just the UK orders!
Should I get my deposit back and go buy two transits?

I spoke to the dealer again today and they are still quoting week 5 build but I don’t think that’s confirmed. I hope it’s not too long as I’ve got a pile of bits waiting to go on it! Someone mentioned going on a VW chat and getting information. Anyone know how and what info I need to do that?
I am still puzzled why some seem to be delayed for such a long time and others are coming through sooner than expected.
The dealer reckoned there was a delay on 4motion but reading this thread there doesn’t seem to be much correlation
I cant see any correlation either about 4Mo

Thats great news, so that's build in the next week or so, and at the dealer before the end of February, providing no more delays
