T6.1 new order delays

Surely this is a change their end, not yours and therefore they should take the hit.
I wouldn't be happy with a phonecall like that.....

Tbf they have given me a good 18% discount and unfortunately he was quick to remind me of that today when I rang him. I said I’m unhappy to pay as I’m going straight to @BognorMotors for new suspension any way. Basically Iv got a T30 and I think it will be T32 springs out on instead.
I’d be interested to know what actual difference there is between the springs?

I say that as a VW dealer told me that they are exactly the same on T28 and T30 and the only actual difference between these two models is the plating weight, which you pay around an extra £480 plus VAT for!! He told me the actual T28 and T30 vans are identical.

Probably a slight difference on the T32 springs, but if you look at the T28/T30 issue, makes you wonder how much actual difference there is and what you are actually being asked to pay for?

My stance would be, “I’ve entered into a contract & paid a deposit, if you now change the contract, it’s at your expense”
I’ve had similar happen to me over the years with Landrover & VW. On both occasions the dealership tried it on & lost. Stick em out. The fact that you got an 18% discount is irrelevant.

We’re only talking about 25kg extra weight (or a bag of cement, depending on which way you want to look at it) on the new 204 compared to the old 199 as a result of extra emissions kit.

I saw that sone Cali orders were also told that the 204 made them unbuildable for the same reason and needed something deleted, although that seemed to be a real mixed bag with some finding they didn’t actually need to adapt spec at all in the end. But haven’t seen any of them being given an option to pay £282 for bigger springs. Yours is the first case I’ve seen being asked to stump up extra cash.

And since T32‘s already have bigger wheels and brakes than the T28 and T30 priced in to the price you've agreed, there clearly isn’t any change needed there or they would have mentioned it. So do they really need different springs for that extra 25kg? Most engineering has tolerance built in that you can take advantage of.

T32 shocks are different so maybe if they are using them they will be changing a few bits to suit. If thats the case ordering spares in future would be awkward. What ever happens I dont see you should stump up the reddies

I would like to know where 25kg comes from for an additional 5ps do you know what they add I just assumed it be a map change or something

Didn’t think of that tbh. So when I order my new suspension will I need T30 coilovers or T32 coilovers cos of the fittings.
@BognorMotors would you know ?

The uprated suspension is indeed T32 on a T30. I had so many options on an old van that I had the same issue.
So you would need T32 coilovers - KWv1 instead of the STX, if this is the route you are going. B14K are the same price regardless of the weight rating

Thanks Oli , just another quick one then would I need to make sure the tyres are T32 load rated. Was really wanting to avoid T32 stuff lol.

My van has finally been built. Ordered 199 T32 combi with all the options mid September. Was told a week or so ago that it was provisional build week mid April. Got a call today today to say its been built and its a 204.

That’s good news on all accounts. Lots of this going on. The system is miles off the pace presently.

Another one built earlier than provisionally expected. Good news and bodes well for others

Do you know where it is now?

Well mines still in Emden @Randolph, but dealer reckons it should arrive In UK this weekend. So looks like about 2 weeks from build to shipping to UK If that’s correct

No idea where it is as I've been given a great deal through a third party company. Not any actual third party but it means I'm removed from the dealer and have been given such a great price I don't want to be a burden or a nag. But between here and fb I'm expecting 4 or 5 weeks away.
