T6.1 new order delays

Well it does give a glimmer of light @Woodman that yours might get built swifter that those various dates you’ve had. Fingers crossed for you

Another Call from VW Inverness today, my van is now at the port waiting to come across to the UK.

He couldn't speculate as to when it will arrive, but at least its on it way now.

Forgot to ask if its a 199 or 204 that has been built.

His allocated build slots have all been cut, and they are filled up to august for panel vans and Kombis.

My van is now at the VW dealer, roughly 15 - 18 days since it left the factory. And 6 months since ordering in October.

All the documents I have seen for it so far show it as a T32 kombi 199 dsg 4motion. So possibly not a 204.

Although it's taken around 6 months to arrive, it's arrived very nearly on the day quoted by VW Inverness, they have been great throughout the process, with plenty updates.

Hopefully picking it up this weekend.

Well mines still in Emden @Randolph, but dealer reckons it should arrive In UK this weekend. So looks like about 2 weeks from build to shipping to UK If that’s correct
I don’t know where mine is @Ozi but from what @P1ngu is saying 15 to 18 days from leaving the factory to dealer, our vans should show up early next week

ordered a vehicle back in November and haven heard anything to date, Stuart of march.... it better be worth it:)
Check on VW Live. Use your order no to find out when your dealer allocation is. I have a November order in same position and been told October delivery at best. No way I can accelerate it with that dealer. Panel vans are much quicker than kombis

Just been on live chat checking for an update on my kombi.

'It's been accepted by the factory but has not been allocated a build date'.

Is this code for we have your order but it could be built anytime between now and the end of the Year? They suggested checking in again in the middle of April.

Pretty much. Means they are looking at where they can slot it in and allocate a provisional build week

That’s exactly the right way for them to have dealt with that. Shame they didn’t do it from the outset, but glad they sorted it out for you.

Those quotes of 14-16 weeks just seem like the standard flannel at point of order. That’s was I was told on order number 1 in Sept (and also in black and white on order form). 20 weeks later I didn’t even have a provisional build date and then of course it got cancelled in week 21.

When I was ringing around for order number 2, guess what I was told ......14-16 weeks, which I queried based on experience and feedback here. They didn’t budge, 14-16 weeks they insisted. So glad I hijacked an existing stock order, otherwise I’d still be waiting for a provisional date again, and probably being updated that it might be September.

But I wish you luck @Wilo

Yep, I was told ( in fact in black and white on the order form ) 14-16wks, but its looking like 45 wks, if I'm lucky.
Yes my November order will be delivered October earliest. It is possible to hijack a stock or cancelled order with other dealers. Those are becoming hard to find but possible.

I really do think we should be making the wider public (well, those interested in buying a T6) aware of this situation. VW will not be doing anything to alleviate this current problem, and maybe they need a push in the right direction.

I too placed a factory order and was told mid to late April, couldn't wait that long and scoured the net and made lots of calls. By chance I spoke to a dealer whom I'd bought my 1st kombi from back in 2018 and they came back there was a cancelled order if it suited. Not quite the spec but near enough, so yes they do exist out there you just have to be patient and persevere and credit to the dealer knowing the situation of a high demand for these vehicle I still got a good deal and he did't try to pull my pants down

If that was part of the deal some might try to use that technique to get a better deal :)
