T6.1 new order delays

I feel your pain. Ordered swb Kombi 4Motion in early December. According to VW my order hasn’t yet been accepted by the factory so no build date allocated. Dealer says now looking at October but possibly 2022. Absolutely hacked off.

That’s not good news @Danny1964Boy
Getting pushed back 9 weeks seems a lot. Has that come from VW chat, or Mark? Seems odd that a van due to be built next week, and hadn’t shifted in provisional week since you ordered, is now pushed back to late June. Any reason given - ie parts availability for a specific option?

VW chat last night and it’s week 24 so 7 weeks delay

I’d have a chat with Mark then. He always seemed to have better info than VW chat. By example the day my van was actually finished and rolling off the line (which I didn’t know at the time) was a week earlier than provisional build week, I contacted VW chat that same dat unaware of this to see if the build week had been confirmed for the following week. They still couldn’t confirm.

Mark emailed me the following day confirming it had been built and gave me the chassis number. So it’s clear that VW chat can’t actually see factory progress data, but dealers can. It was the same for transport and delivery updates. VW chat always seemed to be several days and often a week or more behind the curve.

i know that they periodically shuffle build plans around, but whatever they told you last night will at best be a few days behind, and could quite possibly have been a snapshot whilst they were shuffling builds, and not actually the reality. Def worth a call to the dealer.

@Danny1964Boy, have you tried contacting VW's Commercial Twitter page. It's a very public forum and they were very quick to reply to me. There's a lot of very disgruntled folks on here, and though a popular forum, it's still a narrow group, and I firmly believe a wider audience is required push VW into action. The strength of the UK "scene" is , I think, working against us at the moment, and our very British keep your head down and take it attitude is not the way to go. The french would be launching burning sheep at the factory by now!

You may just give the french ideas there Scruffy!!

But you’re right, we do tend to take more pushing before we respond. Being outside EU doesn’t help now I’m sure. Shouldn’t make any difference, but I suspect the reality is different.

Thanks @Ozi. You are right. Just found out from Mark my van has been made a week early and now in the shipping queue. So VW Live info nowhere near reality! My first good news in 12 months of buying. I can now get excited and buy stuff!

Grilles and splitter today, then de badges the "Trainspoter" off the back. Painted tailgate spoiler letting that harden for a couple of days before flat and polish / fit.so on the outside only the rear glass to fit. Hopefully tomorrow it will be lowered and have the wheels on :)

Who are you insured with as most companies don’t like modifications @Woodman.
I found Sterling/Adrian Flux very helpful

That is indeed good news @Danny1964Boy Summer holiday back on again then!!!!

So 4-6 weeks until it’s with you then judging from recent experiences here. And just goes to prove that VW chat is basically no use at all. Why on earth do they keep it when it keeps churning out duff info and setting has running

I ordered late Sept and am taking delivery late April do that was 7 months, but I think it’s got longer since then...

Oops that’s not what you asked is it..
It’s taken about 7 weeks to get from the factory to me...

My dealer was very disparaging of VW chat. Said they have nowhere near the access to info that dealers have.
If you need an update, contact your dealer.

So after an unsuccessful attempt, some time back, to get info from VW direct; I did eventually get someone keeping an eye on progress with my van and giving me a call every week or two...
When I mentioned this to the dealer, they said “oh do let me know what they say...”
The person calling has now taken to asking me if the dealer has been in touch and asking what they’ve said....
they’re clearly not singing from the same sheet.

Who was giving the most accurate information?
