T6.1 new order delays

I do hope you're kidding, because if not..........boy, are you in for a surprise.
How can the dealer’s say build week next week, it WILL be here in 4-5 weeks if that just doesn’t happen? They’re going to get the sale anyway, i’ve paid to order it. What’s the benefit of them lying?

@James_2296 I suggest to take a long while and read this thread. You maybe very lucky,( the VW ordering system is a bit of a lottery), you may actually be the luckiest man on here, but you may have to wait several months like many of us on here, with no new vans in sight. Even built, they can take several weeks to arrive.

I suggest you get the order number from your dealer, and then double check with VW Chat. If the dealer has said “confirmed” as opposed to ”expected” then I’d say there is a good chance they are being truthful. I have to say everything my dealer has told me (so far) has turned out to be correct. My van is currently sitting in the port, released for shipping, so I’m betting/guessing/hoping it’s only a few weeks away at most. Both my dealer and VW chat have told me that......so here’s hoping!

I never found VW chat to have up to date info, and my dealer was always days ahead of them on information and always spot on (but I concede that all dealers are not equal and that others have had different experiences) Apparently the VW chat team only get once or twice a week updates, whereas the dealers can get live time access.

By example, my van was built on a Friday afternoon and by Saturday morning, the dealer had emailed me confirmation and the VIN number. Oblivious to this on the Friday, I had spoken to VW chat for an update, and on the very day that it was built, they had no idea and couldn’t tell me when it would move from provisional build (due the following week), to a confirmed build week.

I also recall someone on this thread saying that VW chat were no longer giving out updates - probably due to the sort of experience I’ve just described, which i know others have had as well.

Based on what you said previously, you’ve picked up an order that was already in the system, so entirely possible that’s it’s got a confirmed build date.

The question seems more about how long it will take to get it from Emden to the UK. Mine was at Emden within 2 days of being built, but then sat on the dockside for 2-3 weeks before being shipped. Once in the UK it took just under a week to get to the dealer. So 4-5 weeks for delivery from built sounds about right, but will all depend on how much backlog there is at Emden, as that has clearly been a bottleneck for a while.

Hi @Scruffy, I recall you telling me to keep you updated as I think we ordered from Newcastle VWVC roughly the same time.

My provisional build date was a load of tosh back in March, I was told week 14 which was then removed and then I didn’t have one. At that point I told the dealer don’t bother telling me if it means absolutely nothing. The fact it didn’t just get pushed back but totally removed irritated me.

I kept getting updates myself via the online chat once a week, rather than hassling the dealer. I found out on the 5th May my build date was confirmed for week 24, which was the last week in May. I got a phone call off the dealer a couple days later confirming this. He thought it would either take 3 or 6 weeks to arrive depending on if it gets to port in time.

On Friday my dealer rang to confirm my vans in the UK and he should have it early this week, ready to collect for the weekend.

Yes I’ve definitely been told it’s a confirmed build week. Thank you for the comprehensive response.

VW chat been most helpful. Build week done. Gone to shipping done. Arrived in UK this Monday done. Today I asked VW dealer for an invoice for the van sitting in Sheerness. I haven’t heard from dealer for months. mmmm.

Spoke to my dealer yesterday, says he’s got around 20 vans sitting at the dock in the UK which are waiting to be transported.

Picked our T6.1 manual 150ps panel van in Ascot Grey up yesterday (was due 11th July on order form so almost a month early!). New alloys/roof bars/side bars etc being attached as I type!

Ordered 24th March from Citygate Colindale - hope all those waiting get theirs soon!

Nice mate - pretty much a twin of my van (which has been sitting at the port in Germany since 7th June!)
Is that the upgraded floor in the back? (which I also got) If so I’d be interested to see a few more pics at what my £500 additional is going to give me……

it's just the rubber floor + tie down points we had to add so we could order without the bulkhead? Will be taken out and sold very soon as we're converting it to a camper! Sure my other half said it was £200?
