Tail Lights: get both Fog and Reversing bulbs illuminating

I have the standard (non Led) rear light clusters with the single left side reversing light. I am looking at adding a supplementary reversing light (winter campsite manoeuvres etc...). I understand that the green/black is the feed. But the green/black on the right hand cluster (i.e. The side that is not in current use) is not registering any current (when reverse is engaged).??

Any ideas, peeps?

I know I could take the feed from the loom that feeds the left hand cluster, but using the unused right feed makes more sense to me.

I don’t think there is a feed on the right, vans I have looked at only have five wires in the six pin plug and the empty terminal (which I believe is pin 2 ?) would be the reverse feed

I think if you look closely one side is green/black and the other side is black/green ie not the same circuit
I am currently camped at busfest so don’t have a computer to double check wiring diagrams but happy to follow this up after the weekend

Green with black, pin 2 is the reversing light feed on both sides, black green on the same plug is the turn signel.

Hi everyone.
Is there any way to improve the output of the single reversing light on the van, can a 2nd one be added with higher output?
Regards

Click on the ‘reversing’ tag at the bottom and have a read of the threads. Plenty of info about mate.

Your probably best off upgrading to LED rear lights. They have reverse lights on both sides. Some adaptions to wiring is required. Way past my pay grade sorry

i upgraded my single bulb to led and that helped, then i converted to led rear lights and changed the reversing bulbs to led and they are brilliant

It’s not as hard as you’d think - you run a wire from one cluster over to the other and that’s it, really.

@Bowmanthe forum shop sells tail-lamps, and @Pauly will sort you out the terminated cable for both lamps if you need it.

I sacrificed on the colour of the van, just to get factory led drl and led rear lights on my latest addition. Our t6 camper van has h4 headlights and standard rear lights.
It used to p**s me off driving it at night.
Wife drives like Stevie Wonder, so better light aint gonna help her driving .

Pauly's dropping some additional rubber door seals off to me this week. I'm going to make him feel like he's my long lost brother so he can teach me how to get over this phobia of trying anything electrical.

@gal2009 Honestly its a doddle, Pauly supplied idiot proof instructions and i fished a wire from one side to the other even after having a conversion done

So does that mean you upgraded the entire light unit and swapped the bulbs for LEDs

Where did you get the units, are they the Transporter HQ ones? Reason I ask is because there are some for sale on this forum, for sround £300.00. THQ wants £265.00
