Now I'm lost, and worried there is problem with the van.
I fitted my duchy wheels 2 weeks ago with 235/55r18 and was having problems with both my sliding doors rubbing the wheels and it didn't quite look right.
After advise on this thread I brought another set of tyres and had them fitted today, 255/45r18. It now looks loads better, and now one of the sliding opens without rubbing, now whats worrying me is why the other still rubs..
Any ideas or suggestions please, thank you.

hi,

i don't have 2 sliding doors, but sort of the same issues. could you measure how far the wheels sit inwards?

i just started a new thread about my issues

Thank you, I dont fully understand it all but I will be keeping an eye on your thread. I havent had the tracking looked at, so that could be my next step.

What door cards do you have?

I've got 8.5 and 9's. Not sure what door cards so I've tried to take a picture in the dark from the 3rd row seats.

Also I've done the piece of wood on the side walls of the tyre and upto the bodywork and its identical both sides..

Caravelle door cards.. they are wider than standard ones.

I’m sure someone with these door cards will be along to help. I’ve seen this loads of time on this forum.

To cure that issue you can get a smaller tyre but on the flip side you’ll lose your load rating.

Cheers mate..
I really can't afford a 3rd set of tyres in 2 weeks.. I've got to try and sell the other set with less then a 100miles on them.
My concern was its now only touching on one side.

Also what tyre pressures is everyone going for.?

I hear you! I’ve been through loads of tyres and sizes. I’m not sure why it’s only one side.. maybe one of the door cards is a little thicker one side. Posh door cards :think smile bounce:
Tyre pressure anything between 35-40 psi personally. Everyone has their own preference.

Pictures with your new tyres please? ....for a comparison with the 235/55’s!

Good man! I can’t wait to put up some pictures of mine.... soon I hope?

Early next week I hope, I spoke to Jamie yesterday.

Jamie has a queuing system that's pretty basic, but very fair. The wheels get done in order of when they were ordered, meaning he would of had a fair amount of people already in line from ages ago when Amarok stock ran out. We were behind 16 sets from my last conversation, and he said they should be finished and sent out early next week, before his Christmas shut down I assume.

Mine might be a little longer because I have had some custom 'one off' modifications added to mine, but that's a secret;)

:mexican wave: That’s great news.... it’d be brilliant to have them before Christmas.... I’ve been hovering over the ‘buy now’ button with Oadby tyres, just because I don’t know when to book the appointment for fitting? Sod it.... I might just go for it now!!!

First set sorted. Went for a 225/45 front 8.5 and a 245/45 on the 9. Got another set coming so might try a 40 profile on those. Michelin Alpin 5s all round.. you can probably tell one of my favourite tyres

Quite nice to have the comfort of the 45. Way more load rating than I’m used to running and more than I actually need.

@Jayjmac :slow rofl: posh door cards.. these things are a love/hate at times..
Cheers for the pressures.
I’ve got standard kombi door cards and this is the gap I’ve got. It will show you the difference in tyre sizes. I’ve raised it up to drive height.

a combination of tyre size and caravelle door cards is causing your rubbing issue.

@Jayjmac looks amazing mate.. your wheels look tucked in far more than mine, especially your fronts. My fronts the actual rim of the wheel is nearly flush with the wing.

@T6ARF not great pictures mate and it's filthy, but gives you an idea..20201219_132804.jpg20201212_162214.jpg20201219_132740.jpg20201212_162518.jpg20201219_132841.jpg20201219_133239.jpg

All the first pictures are Goodyear 255/45r18 and the second pictures are michelin 235/55r18.
