I crapped myself yesterday on doing a turn in the road and hearing the rear scraping... luckily it was the spare-wheel holder and the bumper
There have been a few times where I’ve hit a huge dip in the road and the tow bar has hit off the road and I’ve crawled myself so I’ve removed it now

Where i live its speedbump central so I've gotta be careful but i forget sometimes and hit the odd one full on. Up til now I've managed to keep my splitter on but I've lost one of the plastic under tray flaps,(il grab a pic later). Im full height at the rear and 5mm drop on the front and i get no rubbing at all.

However I cant believe its the tyre size. I've just done a comparison on will they fit and this is the results. This is comparing my 235/50 with 255/45 as you guys have and there hardly seems a difference. I am at 50mm higher than some of you as well.
I wonder if my wheels have been banded slightly differently?

@T6180 and I discovered that there is a slight difference in hub offset from T6 to T6. We don't know why or even which T6 variations are different, but basically he had a pair of front 19" Banded steels that poked awfully on his T6. Mark ended up changing them for a new pair off Duchy and I had the poking steels off him to actually make a BBQ/Firepit out of them, because we assumed they are built wrong by mistake, and therefor useless.
Anyway, long story short, I kerbed one of my steels and whilst it went off to be refurbed, I threw one of the faulty 19s on and it didn't poke on mine. In fact it actually sat better than my original Duchy fronts and I ended up keeping Mark's faulty 19s on mine.
We still don't know the deciding factor that made the same wheel poke on his, but sit lovely on mine, other than his is a 2016 and mine is a 2017. His is manual and mine is DSG. Both T32's.
That’s interesting, another forum member liked the look of my alloys and so after some messaging between us ordered an identical set. Same sizes and offsets etc and T32 Kombi like mine.
However, his wheels poke out about 5mm at the front causing rubbing issues, whereas mine sit perfectly flush with the arch.
Perhaps that is another example of the differing hub offset.

Got me thinking it would be interesting to do a test fit with someone else's banded steels, to see if its my van or the wheels. I dont seem to have that much poke from comparing my setup to other photos. (I appreciate its very hard to tell.)
Might be worth comparing specs, manual, dsg, years etc, to see if there is a common theme and finally find out if there is a difference in variations.
Seems sensible. Mine is a 65 plate DSG T30.

So Mark's is a 2016 manual SWB T32 and the exact same wheel poked outside the arches around 10-15mm on his, against my 2017 DSG LWB T32 where the wheel sat around 10mm inside the front arches.
Wow! That’s a huge difference! Any aftermarket discs or anything that could perhaps contribute? Although with that much difference it almost sounds like Mark has left a set of spacers on the front and not realised!

The T32 front shocks are different and possibly the hub as the way they are bolted together is different to the T30 and lower
Yes!! They are as I’ve just taken mine into VW-T and he was explaining about the T32 shocks and why I can’t have a hub mod. Also About how they are bolted on.
But this doesn't explain why @Tourershine and @T6180 are so different at they are both T32.

I know that based on others experience you shouldn’t expect to be rubbing, but just a thought, is it rubbing on the upper most arch liner screw? If so, try removing the screw, pushing the liner behind the mounting tab and bending the tab up a little. It might cure your rub.
No, its rubbing on the arch liner in front of the wheel towards the centre of the wheel arch. I will get some pics of where. On pretty much full lock.
