Dubber36,
Where did you get the headlight pictures from? Is it from a readily available document/ brochure?

Ayup Mikem, I know you've got the HID kit fitted to your dipped beams, did you manage to get the LED bulbs for your mains, if so where from and are they legal ?

Hi, I got them off Amazon, but haven't had time to fit them yet.

https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B07WR5BPPK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Not sure about legality, but I'm not in the UK, so wouldn't be relavent for you?

Maybe someone on the forum knows?

I'll post results at the weekend.

I've not sent my 55W kit back yet as I've had a plan. I'm going to make a relayed loom that takes a trigger from one of the original headlight plugs, and supplies the HID ballasts with a stable 12V. Just like how you would wire up a pair of spot lights. The van will/should think that the bulbs have blown, so should ordinarily put the dash light on, but as I've turned off monitoring, that shouldn't happen.

I've just made the loom. I have a meeting to go to this morning, might sneak in a cheeky bike ride when I get back, then I'll test out my plan for the lights. I'll report back after dark.

Well that didn't work. It seems that even taking a feed from the vehicles headlight circuit is enough to put it into a strop. I've got one last option, and that's to use resistors to replace the halogen bulbs before taking the trigger feed for the relay.

Well, I've just replaced the 6000K with 5000K, still with the same 55W ballasts.

Much better, less blue and a lot brighter.

No flicker or warning lights.

Not the same on the H1 LEDs, monstrously bright, but start engine and they flicker and produce a lamp out warning..

At least my dips are working really well, Car Rover ballasts and 5000K bulbs off Amazon work well together with no problems.

Might try some other LEDs..

Bad luck Mikem , try HID's 4U, they claim no problems with 99% of vehicles, we'll hopefully not be the other 1%. I've dealt with them in the past successfully, good firm.

Thanks, as I love the bulbs and light output, I'm going to try a pair of resistors that are supposed to sort out the warning and the flickering.

If they don't work I'll try your people!

So, resistors sorted out the lamp warning and flicker.

Main beams are fantastic.

55w / 5000K HIDs are brilliant on dipped and do not dazzle other road users.

Thanks to dubber 36 for the steer on the HIDs, I would now say that my THQ headlights are top class!

Some pics would be good of the beam pattern

I wouldn't mind just seeing pictures of Monaco taken down by the harbour or outside the Jaques Cousteau museum by the Palace, actually I wouldn't mind just having a wander round there people watching this near to Christmas!

Back on topic and yes pictures are required... on a side note @RedUn the canbus decoders are fitted and working apart from still throwing the bulb out warning if I flash the main beam from the headlight stalk switch... changing from dip to main and the dash stays off

If you are not getting any flickering, you need to turn off that particular bulb monitoring with VCDS.
