Turn off Stop / Start

You didn’t upset me.
I agree that the stop-start system puts more load on components, which is why I disable it manually when I start my T6.
I will probably fit the eBay gadget in due course, as all it does is mimic what I do with the VW provided switch on my T6 dashboard.
What I don’t like is that you propose a solution for others which I think you can not test, as it looks like you don’t have a T6.
You also only post on this subject. How about engaging on the forum on a different subject.

Pete

I don’t think your “its the same as a faulty sensor” logic stacks up.
I have a faulty sensor and I have left it as there are no appointments at the dealer. Now this sensor fault has led to another problem and the vehicle is now in limp mode.
It will be fixed tomorrow but if I leave it, it will cause damage that will invalidate the warranty.
We also had another user on here that tried to buck the system and prevent regeration by running low in fuel that also lead to a close call.

So unless you are fully aware of the consequences to the T6 in what you propose then I suggest you stop posting your rhetoric.

All it does is change the range where it is allowed to work. You put in a value it will never achieve and it never kicks in.
BUT it was -50 -50 I set to to -50 to 1C. Ahh... normaly SS shouldnt work below 3.5-4 any way... Arue SURE that CH 13 means exactly this Loz? Im just curious. did u try other values? THX!!!!!!!! i works for me.

On a slightly different note & I don’t know if this has been mentioned before; if I roll up to a junction using minimal brake, the engine doesn’t stop, I can hold the van on the brake & keep the engine running. If I depress the brake more, the engine stops. It’s as if the stop/start involves the brake pedal pressure. Similarly if I’m stood, I can restart the engine by just easing off the brake, but not fully. With practice, it’s easy to control.

I know. I believed that before.... NO May be it was below 4C anyway or the battery temp low, and THEREFORE IT didnt kick in. only some times this worked for me under some conditions, this is true. when the Velocity reached 0 kmh, most of the time the engine shuts down straight, cut , no chance. This is maybe cuz the engine was in regeneration or sm, OR U didnt STOP completely as u said... More important is now to unterstand what Ch13 does in adaptation, so in the long term the van doesnt srew up something else... As -50 -50 maybe UNDEFINED??

Well noticed but the side effect of this kind of approach is much quicker wear and tear of a DSG clutch.

If you apply significant pressure on a brake pedal, the DSG's clutch/clutches disengage fully. But if you apply only little pressure clutch will start its engaging process and time when this happens should be minimised in order to maximise both clutches lifetime.

Sorry for drifting completely off topic.;)

I just tested this and it seems to be good, just need to do a long drive to fully confirm.

Thanks this worked for me .. cheers

Hi Loz & John, are you guys able to confirm this method works after extended driving & elapsed time?

I've been in touch with Voltas (OBVeleven) recently, still waiting on a reply but i'm sure i'm not the only person to query them with regards to their application not working on a T5/T6...

Cheers, Matt

I did it the same way, and con confirm it still works after extended driving / elapsed time.

Thanks for reply! Seeing as I have had no luck with OBDeleven, i'll get my local independent VAG guy to have a go with the help of Loz's screenshots if he needs...

Yes, works fine, but I have since moved onto the memory module.

hi everyone ad my van about two months now and tonight for the first time it cut out while parked I dipped the clutch to start it bk up off the key and it started on its own I did not think mine ad this stop and start system on it I was convinced mind dant have it and was pleased as its more to go wrong so why after doing around 600 odd miles as it just kicked in bit strange but reading some of the above post about not having enough charge in the battery etc any advice would be apricated ,thanks steve

There are loads of parameters that the engine management system takes into account when deciding to allow stop-start to work - it’s a lot more than just battery charge.
Suggest you live with it for a bit and see how it goes.
Pete

thank you I like just simple things I don't mind it being there if it helps in the long run just surprised I ad it on mine .thanks steve

Guessing the battery was low on charge or you had electric stuff turned on like AC or heated screen which will stop it from stopping
