Turn off Stop / Start

Or live in the artic circle, bet no one gets stop start operating up there.
BTW other car Suzuki it kicks in really quick and rarely doesn't engage.

@Mojo has it right, a slight touch on the brake pedal and it doesn't turn off, press a little harder and it does.

Also when getting ready to set off, just release the brake pedal a bit when your ready and it fires in to life, you won't move forward at this point.

Btw this is on a DSG i guess a manual will be different.

It used to be the first button i pressed once the van was fired up now, now i quite like the stop/start and it does help with MPG when the traffics heavy.

For a short while I had a Ford Orion, it was forever cutting out, perhaps it was a prototype start stop..

Am I the only one who hates the Stop/Start feature.
It is a real pain in the ass.
Not only will it take life away from the battery but it must put extra strain on the starter, ring gear and especially the Dual Mass Flywheel.
Just keep forgetting to switch off every time I get in the van.

It is better for the environment, mpg and put no strain on battery. The minute it detects strain on the battery it restarts the engine.

I tend to only switch it off when in major stop/start traffic. As people have said you can try the gentle foot brake but I find that mine still goes off, you can also wiggle the wheel and it will restart. I tend to leave a gap in traffic so I can slowly creep towards and minimise the effect a little. I read somewhere that traffic can cause the DSG to overheat in long tailbacks.
I have a California so not sure if mine works the same as a Transporter, guessing it will be the same.

Does it really help that much with MPG, I'd like to see the evidence of that.

I'd prefer it if the stop start didnt work unless you pressed the button. That way, when you come to a stop, you press the button only if it looks like being a prolonged stop.

I was able to reprogram my Touareg to work like that, unfortunately haven't cracked it yet on the T6

More strain on the DMF and that quote comes from a head technician at VW

Ahhh! Guess we will see if warranty claims start coming in, any weaknesses will show up and this forum will be the place to find out about it!
