Upgrade Reversing light

I have rear led lights . Can you change the reverse light bulb ? I had a look and thought it looked like a sealed unit ?

Obviously you can , any tips ??

Yes I’ve done mine, I’m sure I have posted something before about...
The job is easy, just getting the right lamps is the challange. This is what I purchased.

Only the tail lights and brake lights are LED the reverse and indicators use standard filament lamps
To swap them you just need to open the tailgate and remove the two cross head screws on the inside edge of the light cluster and the whole unit will push to the outside edge of the van and come away, the lamps are accessible from the rear of the cluster

I had already bought some osram lamps but gave up as I couldn’t get into the light cluster!

Must try harder !

Pretty straight forward, remove the light cluster, remove the reversing lamp bulb holder, swap bulb. The reverse lamb bulb holder is a conventional 1/4 turn to remove type.

I bought the reversing led bulbs from travelinlite, they were not expensive and have not caused any issues however they are not really much brighter than the standard bulbs !

Your right , that was easy . Changed both reverse lights to osram leds in a couple of minutes this afternoon.

After coming home tonight , I can say these Osram Led bulbs definitely give better vision when reversing onto my currently unlit drive .

Loz, which one of the 3 options on the link you provided are the right ones?? Sorry, I can't see a way of differentiating between the types they are offering.

Did you try a few different LED reverse bulbs before deciding on these as the brightest, or were they just the first that threw no CANBUS errors ?? (you already had the factory LED tail light option I assume?)

They were the first ones I tried and worked without error, yes I have factory LEDs

It doesn't help that the sh*t-4-brains VW engineers decided to position the reverse lights 1 metre above the ground, at the very top of the light cluster. Schoolboy error that one.
