I’ve offered it to @Blasan for £300 and will give him first dibs. He was getting a quote for a rebuild today.

Still for sale. Willing to take offers including a nice bottle of single malt before I call a few of the turbo refurb places to see if they are interested.

Hello Westy, I know you raised this a while ago but can I ask what your symptoms were for a snap low power turbine shaft. I’m just about to remove mine as I think I have the same problem.

It was running perfectly then I noticed a noise whilst driving on the motorway, not a whine or whistle the engine just sounded different. Within 10miles EML and lacking power but still driveable

Thanks for the quick reply. I had no warning, no strange sounds just had the coil light show and lost all power below 2000rpm. Drives perfect after that. Just pulling away and then the light comes on. throws the P0299 code on the reader but nothing else. Checked all the standard stuff. Then I saw this thread and thought it could be that. I’ll find out over the next few days as I attempt to remove the turbo on my drive. Love vanlife.

Interested to hear how you get on replacing the turbo on your own as it's something I will likely do whenever mine goesw... good luck with it, please share how you get on!

So decided to take a day of work and give it a go. One T6 Caravelle jacked up on my drive and the weather was kind. It took me all day with a lot of thoughts of why did I start this but managed to get everything off or loose just for there not been enough room to get it out. Just an inch more space I needed. So I unbolted the drivers engine mount and the front mount and slid the engine as far forward as possible. It worked. One bi-turbo successfully out. Stripped the low power turbo to find lots of oil, further investigation found the turbine shaft snapped. Thankfully it looks like no debris was ingested into the engine. 2020 van with 76000 miles and full service history, not impressed. About 6 hours to remove, rolling around on the floor.
Rebuild tomorrow.
