Webasto heater upgrade

Hi jim ,yes it pumps around the system and warms the engine ,the pump is already built- in the auxiliary heater
The kit I got is in a link higher up the thread .
I have climate a/c
The only thing you do need extra ,the kit is for a left hand drive ,so the two cables that connect to the fan control have to be extended to the drivers side .

Hi carlg, i’m pleased you got it sorted. I’ve forgotten, did you go for the std remote or the timer remote. I’m still thinking about the timer one for mine.

I went for remote ,but I was looking at the timer last night .
I had the oval webasto one in my last van .
The remote is good ,but I think having both is the way to go .

Sorry to dig up an Old thread. I’ve got my shuttle booked in for a Webasto parking heater in the next few months. I was looking for something unrelated on the van this morning and spotted I’ve got an auxiliary heater fitted. My question (which I don’t think this thread answered) - can you use this as a parking heater with the right software updates/controller? If the problem is battery drain then would a split charger and using when on hook up (which would really be the only time I use it) address this? Thank you

The only problem I can see is it only runs for 20/30 minutes then it shuts down .not sure about running the split charge.

Just to add another question into this thread...

Do you think you could use this system to pre-heat an external water source? For example is there a way of texting your van so the heater comes on giving you the ability to have hot water when you arrive 30 minutes later? I'm sure I read somewhere there is a way to get running hot water by using the webasto auxiliry heater?

I'm thinking it could be a way of being able to have a hot cup of tea or a shower when you get back from a walk / run?

You can get a controller that uses mobile phone sim ,so you can text it to come on ,but not sure about heating an external source.

My water pre heater only run wen the engine is running can this be made to run off a separate switch so I can warm the engine before I start it ???

But it’s the same principle ie firmware update etc so thought it would apply

Looking to do this for mine, apparently the 30 minute delay can be changed to a longer duration?
Also regarding the 'flashtool' part, will I need to take this to a garage to get the software side of things done, would I need a webasto diagnostic kit or does the provided dongle do the job?
Thanks

The dongle dose the job ,but you meed the flash tool as well .
You can do it yourself .
I will sell my flashtool ,if you want to buy it

On duration you can run for an hour on my unit then you need to restart it. 15 minutes of heat is enough to warm my lwb with the pop top up.

This is what I'm looking at, it comes with 'W-Bus Diagnosis' is this the flashtool or is that something different entirely?
I'm trying to work out if it is cost effective to buy the kit and fit myself or if I would need expensive diagnostics/flashtool/etc then it may be easier to pay an installer.
The trouble with getting an installer to do it is that I was hoping to switch it over to being powered by my leisure batteries and I'll be fitting a colorifier boiler at some point too so it all gets a little complicated

When you say that you need to restart it to use it again do you mean restart the van ignition or just the webasto unit? I'm converting mine to a camper and this will be the main heating system
