Webasto heater upgrade

Ok, so anyone got ‘installing t91 for dummies’ instructions lying around?
I have the flash tool
I’ve put the t91 under seat and have power to it.
So now it’s time to flash the unit, then take wires to the blower switch (I have normal climate so think I have to hard wire?)

Do you flash by scotchlocking into existing wiring? Making up a plug? Carl I have your unit but it doesn’t look like it’s ever been connected to anything to give me any hints :)

Anyone can add any information much appreciated.

I would really like to understand this upgrade more. I really want to do it as my shuttle has the auxiliary (water) heater and getting it to start in the morning before I start the engine would be a massive help defrosting the van!

Is this a DIYable job? Do you just need to buy a kit and flash the software yourself? what are the costs?

I have a 66 plate shuttle with climatronic

Webasto basic remote for now, you have update the heater software also, as the T6 auxiliary heaters are VW spec and don’t give the signal out to start the vans heater blower.
A bit curious about the Webasto made software - does the updated heater still work as engine heater (automatic start below +5C)?
Any VCDS scans how it is seen now, remote as a submodule?

Hi everyone, I want to undertake this upgrade and understand the process. Unfortunately the link @Crewey posted to the diagnostics tool is no longer working (no product listed on that page).
Does anyone have the flash tool or a link to it please?

Any tips appreciated.

I used one similar to this, same make
Unlock SET - VW Sharan 7N - W-BUS diagnostic interface + dongle for Webasto

Thank you @carlg I have come across this company before. They would send me the firmware flash kit and give you refund once you return it (I don't see why I would want to keep it?).
I'm in two minds which route to take. Danhag offers a dongle (plug and play) which does not require the firmware flashing. But the cost is quite significant once you add the T91 etc.

Do you still have your flash tool/kit? Would you or anyone else loan it for a fee? Or is there anyone offering the unlock/flashing as a service?

Cheers

Stefan

I sold mine to a member on here.

Hi, I know this is an old thread and you may no longer have your caravelle but I have just got 71 plate 'velle with Webasto and am considering using AIC. Which of their "upgrades" did you use and how well did it operate for you? TIA, Bill.

I'd ask AIC about which kit you need. It depends if you have climate control or AC only.
If you have the budget then let them do it all. I upgraded my 2016 Caravelle myself and getting the software to flash and recode the heater up and running was a right ballache. The hardware part was easy enough. DIY route is cheaper but I wouldn't do it again purely because of the software part and getting a hacked chinese VCDS to work.

IMO you do not need the multicontrol setup, I only have the remote keyfob and it's great.

With all that said, this was the single best upgrade to the van I ever did. If I could upgrade to a heated steering wheel as well then I would :)

Thanks for that ....... I have an electronics background but agree that doing this yourself is probably not worth all the hassle.
Heated steering wheel, reversing camera, lane control ....... all things of the past and no longer available on new vehicles due to parts shortages. :-(
I bought my Caravelle after giving up on ever seeing the T7/Multivan I ordered last year.
