Webasto heater upgrade

I think the w-bus is looking like 59 euro extra and you would need this .
Do you have climatronic ac or climate ac

Climatic. So this W-bus doodad is the flashtool you mentioned? The PC to Webasto interface?

Yes it is .
Moi - yep you just need to hit the button on the multi control again for another hour of heat. Mine was around £750 saving on having a new unit fitted and as I tend to use the heater when on mains hook up (this set up uses the fans in the van to circulate the warm air which will use more of your battery than the small fan on a whole new unit). I’m happy that’s all I need. Thanks

Brilliant, thanks guys. I've been stressing over this for weeks trying to get to the bottom of it! Seems I was just looking on the wrong forums!

Any idea roughly how many amps this heater draws from the vehicle battery? I'll be using it quite a lot on and off hookup.
Guess I could start the van off the leisure batteries in an emergency though... easier than trying to rewire the webasto?

Just finished my auxiliary heater to parking heater upgrade ,a few set backs ,mainly me been not computer savvey but luckily a young mechanic knew more about computers tgan me .
The heater required a software upgrade which is done using a flashtool ,connected to the computer, also a disc and a usb dongle . @Pauly I found the fuse for the heater control ,it is just under the steering wheel.
Also big thank you to @Crewey for his step by step photos for the software update.
I've just been looking for that poxy fuse for the last hour! Thank you!

Its quite hard to find ,and a bit of a bugger to cut and re join .
I pulled it out of the holder and trimmed a bit of tape off the loom to get more access.

Yes, that makes sense. I'm in the process now having just extended the black and red wires behind the gear stick, I guess it's designed for left hand drive.
My instructions say to attach a yellow wire to the green/white pin 1 of a red connector under the passenger seat... but how do I get the green/white wire out of the connector block? It is being very stubborn. Do I need to put both wires back into pin 1 or just cut and connect green/white to yellow? The instructions are a bit naff to be honest.

The one under the seat only comes frome the heater ,so just join into it .
I had to extend my black and red as they are designed for lh drive .

Thanks, I appreciate the help.
Can I ask what you use your van for? Do you use the remote much?

I'm converting mine into a camper, was £200 cheaper to get just the multicontrol timer with no remote so I did that. I might get a remote later

Reviving the zombie thread. Anyone want to sell the firmware and flash tool? I have a telestart kit and would like to get it plumbed in.

No, my van had the wire for the W-bus coms from the red plug under the seat to the aux heater plug, I think it’s pin 2 (green and white wire). Mine is a Caravelle, but I would think all vans would have the same bit of loom for aux heater.
Regarding software, I’m no computer expert, but the disc they call the flashtool and I think the software/firmware is on the usb stick which once you’ve upgraded it wipes it ??

Can you sent me the files on the upgrade disc (wetransfer)
Im willing to pay you through paypal ofcourse
Thnx man
Kind regards

I've got the dongle free version of the Webasto WTT software so i assume i only need the .prn file to flash the unit...
It's a Thermo Top EVO 5 Diesel unit

I don’t think you can use the thermotest to upgrade the firmware, the dongle comes with its own disc for installing the firmware
