Welcome new members

Hi all, I've been researching (lurking) for a while now. Finally picked a van up a few weeks ago that I'm in the process of converting. I think the forum's already saved me a day in research.

I just need to find a good time to break it to the family that we're on beans and toast for the foreseeable.View attachment 254965
Welcome to the van-induced restricted diet club!

Welcome. I'm sure the family won't mind the diet once you've finished it and are out on adventures.

Are you in Cambs area?

Hi all, Dave here. Looking to buy our first camper in the next week or 2, I’ll take a read and then stick a post on looking for plenty of advice :)
Welcome to the forum Dave.

My advice would be to take your time during your search; don't time-limit your search and don't be rushed into buying an unsuitable van - there are LOTS of vans out there.

Create a list of "must have" options and a list of "nice to have" options, then ensure the former includes all the options you want that are very expensive, very difficult, impractical or downright impossible to retro fit (e.g. manual vs DSG, SWB vs LWB and air conditioning) and be prepared to be flexible on the latter.

Hi Dave. The search bar is your friend. You’ll find that all your questions have already been asked but if you struggle, stick a post up and you’ll get your answers. Welcome to the forum and potential ownership!

Thanks for the warm welcome. Have already started our list of essential Vs desirable and will do my absolute best to research properly and not go after it like a dog after a bone….!

Hi all :)

After more than a year (my wife says nearly 2) looking round and deciding what things I wanted and chatting to other motorhome users (some with big budgets), I have finally taken the plunge on a T6.1 conversion from a local specialist and took delivery yesterday.

Already seen some good suggestions on here. Will have to lurk some more but with post questions if/when I have them and any advice I can.
Cheers, David

Welcome to the forum David and congrats on your recent purchase (photos of which are quasi-mandatory BTW!).

Frequenting this place can be costly, as we're extremely adept at spending your money by introducing you to things you never knew you wanted needed absolutely must have. In recompense, we willingly offer free help, advice, opinion and personal experience to (hopefully) ensure you avoid making costly mistakes or having your pants pulled down by unscrupulous suppliers, convertors, dealers, et al.

However this forum impacts your financial status, just remember - you came to us; we didn't force you. ;)

Bonjour.
Pour yourselves drink, sit back and relax with your credit card at the ready.

Hey Rico. Nice looking van you've got there!

At one point I was looking for a Shuttle, but finding an 8-seat LWB variant was like searching for hens' teeth. Did you have to search long to find yours?

Thanks Bav, to be honest was originally looking at the 9 seats, but once swmbo saw the captain seat in the front of the 8 that was it. No wasnt looking for too long. As I posted in another thread about Broadway Vans, they always seem to have 8&9 seat LWB & SWBs in stock but they do turn them over pretty quickly.
