What Have You Bought Today?

We've ordered replacement non-oem opening windows to replace the leaky Kombi sliders. The new windows will match the windows we had installed in the rear quarters. Once they are done we'll be able to finish the interior of the van. I plan to carpet the Kiravans door store; no point doing that whilst it fills up with water. They should be fitted when the van goes in to get the pop-top roof checked and the alignment adjusted.

Also, we've decided The Ply Guys had the solution for our interior build needs. We've had a conversation with Craig at The Ply Guys and discussed the build we're looking for and the bespoke piece we wanted to extend the Torridon to a full-length (1800mm) bed. They've come up with a design we like so we'll be ordering a 1400mm Torridon, 1200mm Clachan, a 400mm Torridon extension piece, a Bruich Beag kitchen unit, and the Urlar floor, and some bits. Waiting for the invoice to pay the deposit and agree on a date for fitting/collection - it'll be sometime in September. We may have it ready for the Autumn gathering. :D

That's an expensive month - but still less than the cost of just the bed and floor option we were previously planning to go with (and we'll have a kitchen unit) so let's just agree we saved a load of money. ;)

I’m not fitting them myself. I had the rear quarters fitted at the company who‘ve fitted our pop top and leisure electrics. They don’t actually do the windows themselves, they have a specialist window fitter who comes to them to fit the windows. He fitted mine and tinted the original windows to match the darker tint of the new openers. He’ll fit the matching windows in the front quarters. The photos show the van as it is presently.

Did you get the replacements from Camper Glass?

Not bought today, but finding it very useful so thought I’d share. Werner Pro Platform aluminium bench.

Perfect for washing the roof of the van - much better than step ladders as you can walk along it as you clean the roof and don’t have to reposition it 30 times. Just high enough to reach across half of the roof  If you’re feeling lazy it’s also a good seat for cleaning the wheels.

Folds flat for storage on a hook on the garage wall, and also useful as a bench seat for the kids when sitting down at the table for dinner while camping.

One of those things you buy once, will last a lifetime, and you’ll find a million and one uses for.
