What Have You Bought Today?

@Danksy - How are you finding the Jackery?
I am almost ready to hit the buy button as its currently reduced to £786

Hi @lebb2017 I bought a Jackery 1000 last year and it’s a brilliant piece of kit,I also bought 2 100wat portable solar panels and I ran our Alpicool fridge freezer ,a cool box, awning lighting and flagpole lights over the T6 summer camp and I was never short of power.

John.

I looked at the Jackerys but the lack of smartphone app control put me off. I went for an EcoFlow Delta Mini - all of the EcoFlows can be controlled and monitored via a smartphone app either locally or remotely over the internet.

Why is this important?

My EcoFlow lives in my storage cupboard in the van and the buttons to turn on and off the 12v or the inverter are round the back of the device - I can turn these on or off via the app without having to grovel around in the cupboard, and I can also monitor the state of the solar charge coming in/battery capacity via the app too.

Thanks for the replies all :)

I bought it! I plan to power aplicool K25 fridge for weekend breaks so I think (hope!) it will be sufficient for that.

It's sort of van related as it will go on our travels with us - I bought a DJI Mini 3 Pro drone:
I've been thinking about buying a small drone for a while now and started looking at cheapos but knew that if I did buy cheap, it would probably be a matter of days before I decided to buy something decent so just went for what general opinion reckons is just about the best small camera drone available today. During my working life, I spent a lot of time in helicopters and I suspect this thing has got more tech in it than some of the older Army Air Corps stuff that I flew in in the late 1970s and 1980s! I've never owned a drone before and so thought I had better read the quick start guide that came with it but it gave no real guidance other than charge it and the controller! Being a bloke, I rarely read instruction manuals but I think I had better download the full version from DJI and read it properly before doing anything or else I suspect a very expensive mistake (for worse) might be just over the horizon (literally!). That said, even though I don't know how to get the thing in the air yet, at least I'm fully briefed on all the CAA rules:

My brother in law has that model, it's amazing. The picture/video quality is unbelievable. I think he did a shirt on line course, he had me flying it in minutes. Very standard stuff but like you say the tech in it is amazing. I'm thinking about getting one myself now.

There are numerous drone related channels on YouTube.
Here's a couple that I've subscribed to.

In the chair line, I've currently got bulky/comfortable and compact/uncomfortable, so I'm on the lookout for compact/comfortable. You seem to have the compact side covered with these, but do you have any feedback on the comfort?
I bought these to just see with the intent if they wouldn't fit under the seat or were uncomfortable I'd just send them back (the beauty of mail order and Amazon). We opened the box of one of the chairs and my wife made up the frame (she is not a natural at anything to do with DIY, which really is straightforward forward.
The seat fabric then needs to be put on the 4 pole ends where just a little force is needed to get the last corner in.
Moment of truth and my wife duly sat on the seat and was surprised (as am I) at how comfortable they are, not used in anger yet, this weekend in the New Forest maybe :) but I'd be surprised if they disappointed following our home tests.

Thanks for the feedback Dale. Is assembly a one-off activity or is assembly and disassembly required for each use?

EDIT: I think I've just answered my own question by actually looking at the link you posted!

I have one for Sea Kayak camping, nice and small, yet comfortable. I'll stick it in the van now you suggested it to me.

It is truly easy to put together.

Ii ordered two of these Kilos high back chairs last night. Couldn't find anyone with one to test before purchase but taken a chance on the free return basis. They are well reviewed, have a high back for comfort and fold away small. Should be perfect for the van:
I ordered the M8 table to go with the chairs:
