What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

What have you done with the relays?
I'd like to relocate mine. However I have a westfalia towbar control unit in that space too.

Mine’s got a Kiravans swivel, so they’re located under the rubber floor, under the swivel plate. I took the plastic relay carrier off some time ago and have only just got round to taking the studs off.

Took the 16” standard alloys and winter tyres off, as I most certainly did not complete the Nc500 this Easter, as planned.

And then dusted off the 19” summer wheels / tyre combo, to refit to Buster

Lots better, me thinks!!

Also, at the same time as having the front wheels off, for easy access to the cover, I fitted LED cornering / fog lights instead of the factory fitted H11’s
Just need the lockdown to be lifted and some fog to come down, so I can take the T6 for a play, to see if the efforts have been worth it!!!
Love the Canteras, looks. Much better.
just need to find a set for mine that don’t cost stupid money now.....

@Big.mac - the thing that can make a set of Cantaras expensive, is the fact the standard tyres, when fitted to an Amarok are too big a rolling radius, so you have to take them off, sell them and put the money towards tyres that have a rolling radius that makes the T6 speedo read correct.
For mine, the standard brand new 255/55/19 Bridgestone Duellers were removed, sold for £275.00 on Ebay and new 245/45/19's bought and fitted.
Looking at prices of 2nd hand Cantaras over the last 18 months, they do seem to have crept up a bit, though.

Good luck with buying a set, they do make a big difference to running standard wheels, but still keeping it OEM.

The only thing for a further improvement that I wanted to do, was install a set of the magic, floating (dynamic??) centre caps, but unfortunately, they don't fit the Cantara alloy.

Been meaning to do this for a longtime.
The idea is to give some privacy when out in the kayak for changing into and out of my wet suit. Also a bit of extra privacy if having a quick doze in the back when on a tour.
Very easy, and cost about £15 including the curtains, which are a bit thin but do the job when looking in from outside.

Next job is to get a heavier tint on the windows, once we're out of lockdown.

Edit,
After seeing this post, I had to go out to the van, sort out the rear seat belt and adjust the flaps on the pockets so they were even. o_O
The good thing is, I didn't notice it when I was fitting the curtains so my OCD seems to be mellowing, or I was too occupied with my handy work.

The table is what it is. I can't get it level and fit where it does. Sometimes, I just have to learn to cope.

Gave the rail brackets a de rust and a coat of hammerite.

Then a quick polish of the bars and refitted now I don’t have bronze wheels on.

Is it a pain to remove the bars......never looked at mine if I'm honest and they are in dire need of polishing and the brackets need a lick of paint as you have done.
The bars are really easy. 1 bolt at each end. 10mins max to get both off.
the brackets are pretty easy but a bit more time consuming as you need to release the outer edges of the undertrays.

How was it to fit? Did you put in a back board?
For what it's worth, I've fitted one in my camper and it was a very easy job (but you must have the correct size spline bits). I also made and fitted the back board - again easy. In my case, I downloaded the drawing from the Vankraft website but some of the numbers were a bit indistinct so I made a template out of a sheet of cardboard (from a large box), got that exact and then cut a sheet of hardboard from it (which only cost about £4 IIRC). There's a useful video on the Vankraft website on how to fit the bracket. IMHO (and that of 'er indoors) it transforms the seat and is money very well spent.
