What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Nice! Did mine recently, too.

Have you sat on it yet? I’ve got no hope of travelling on the passenger seat… but then again, I wouldn’t ever choose to anyway.

I’m 6’6” by the way. Yea, so that makes it a bit more awkward to lose 5cm or so in headroom. That said, no leg room for me on the passenger side either…
Like you I never travel in the passenger seat.
In my case it is because my wife has so far not driven the van. Looking pretty unlikely going forwards too.
I will at least fit, if I need to as I am only 5'9".
Let's see how wife and daughter get on with it before considering a reduced height base.

My wife is 5’6” or so and it’s fine. She definitely noticed the change. I’ve also got the Vancraft bracket, which helps.

It’ll be close, with you at 5’9” I recon.

Don’t know how you stand it. I’m 6’1” and reckon that I’m just about on the limit for getting the drivers seat back far enough for a comfortable driving position. That’s with the bulkhead out and camper furniture starting just aft of where the bulkhead would have been. I could probably get the seat a little further back if it was more upright but I don’t think I’d like it for long. Also I’m not sure how I’d get on at all with a bog standard panel van with a fixed bulkhead in place.

I’ve got bulkhead out and no cabinets yet. I find the driving position in the T6 really comfortable. Better than my Touran, in fact, which gives me a really sore back no matter what I do.

Finally prepped and ready for full conversion.

Loads of jobs done today,
- removed old floor (old panels came out yesterday)
- removed spray glue overspray
- metal paint on all exposed metal and screw holes
- reverse camera and wiring fitted

Final task… VCDS with the support of a fellow T6F member bright and early tomorrow morning

If tow bar and reversing camera are both working 12 hours from now, I’ll be a very happy man.

It works! It all bloody works!

It was an easy meet-up this morning in the supermarket car park… like some kind of weird blind date.

“I’m in the black T6.”

“I’m in the white T6.”

Totally unnecessary. There was no one else there at 5:45am .

I arrived equipped with printouts of T6 Forum discussions about coding for the towbar and reversing camera. So incredibly useful

@Pag Brought the kit. We sussed it out together.

And it’s all working! Head unit recognises the bike rack as a trailer, and turns off the alerts. And the camera comes on at the right time and stays on.

So excited that @Pag almost fell victim to a massive bear hug - not at all COVID-safe.

Off to the converters today. Glad I don’t have to spend the morning trouble shooting any errors.

Thanks again, @Pag. Let me know if I can return the favour with camera advice or whatever. ✌

Glad to help it was worth see your excitement at it working.

Today is a planning day, I have a 1200 round mile trip to Cambridge Campervans to convert my 9 seater shuttle to an 8 seater with a brand new 6.1 passenger captain's chair for just over £800 including fitting on Monday which to me is an amazing price. So feeling a bit like a kid waiting for Christmas

Had a trip up to Luke Stevens Developments and treated the van to a Pendle engine and gearbox remap. Very pleased with the results :think smile bounce: . Would certainly recommend them to others (big thumbs up) - very helpful nice setup. Had a look at their race cars there before disappearing off to La Hogue Farm Shop for an awesome cooked breakfast :) whilst they finished it off.

Ordered our Titan Bed.... just the 4 months to wait for it now...
Ordered ours at the end of January. Was meant to be a 12 week lead time. Received confirmation that the "frame is now at powder coat" earlier this week. Fitting booked for later this month.
Hurrah.

Took our EURO 6 T6 150 Velle to Bognor Motors for REVO Re Map + air-filter and TVS DSG Re-Map, incredible difference, loads more torque spread over a wider range and a much improved gear selection, no more forced downshifts to stop engine laboring as revs drop off going up hills, also better initial pull away and smoother shifts, why didn't it come like this from the factory, I can only assume its mapped more for emissions than driveability, one other bonus is that I averaged 39.1 mpg driving to Bognor Regis and 41.9 driving home, 180 mile round trip well pleased as I would have happily sacrificed a couple of mpg for a better driving experience. I can highly recommend Bognor Motors, they are a very professional outfit who I will definitely be using again when I can afford some suspension mods, planning on THQ V3 Headlights next with full LED, main beam and dipped beam then some B14's or ST kit, not sure which yet.
