What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Fitted a CTEK charger for my leisure battery. Should have done this 12 months ago when I first started the conversion but we live and learn. Gave me an opportunity to tidy up the wiring from the first time around.

Any one on here want to help out? I watched a video on the installation and noticed they picked up the ignition live the D250SA needs from the fuse box beside the gear stick. After testing I noticed the leisure battery was still at 14.8v with the engine off, I disconnected the live from the fuse box and it dropped to 13.4v. Are certain parts of the fuse box permanently live and some parts ignition live?

Thanks in advance ;)

You want the centre column in the fusebox for ignition switched feeds.

Not been able to post much but in the last month or so we have been able to get a set of rather nice alloys with almost brand new 17" tyres and bought our first private plate T6 FGJ and at only £250 from DVLA including transfer fee it was an absolute steal. We also took advantage of VWs offer and for £169 got a Kenwood dash cam hard wired

Changed the H4s for some decent bulbs and when taking out the air box discovered that the mains 240v retention socket in the engine bay prevented the airbox being removed. Then discovered the installer had a couple of goes at installing. Found a place nearby where all the plugs can be removed and the airbox taken out, so screwed it there and hammerited the old holes.

That's an interesting set up? Where does the white cable go? Shouldn't that go outside the van to plug into the 240v supply? I take it the Red cable goes to your consumer unit?

It confused me when I first saw it. The white is mains 240v cable which connects directly to the campsite supply. The socket on the bulkhead is only to "park" the fly lead. The red cable you see is actually from the split charge/battery (you can see it bypassing the socket behind and to the right) and goes to the leisure battery.

Looks smart! I'm planning on doing the same, did you do them yourself? Easy job?
Good Lord no. I struggle to turn the key I'm that incompetent. However, we don't have a "What have others done to your van today" so I have to post here.
Work was carried out by Copthorne services in Shrewsbury. Excellent service and very nice people to deal with. Would whole heartedly recommend.

Installed new, much more flexible, silicone cables from the new solar controller up to the connectors from the solar panel, which has allowed me to hide them much better. Then ground channels in the aluminium strip that the canvas fits into, between it and the roof, and lined them with grommets cut in half to form a U shape. It only needs to protect the cable from the metal, the top will be against the fibreglass roof and needs to be flush with the top of the channel so that it screwed back tight and with no gap. Then put the frame piece back on and now my solar cables will not be going through the canvas when it comes back from being repaired. Saw 155W as soon as it was plugged back in which is a new record for me straight away, but had to put it back in the garage as I need to work this afternoon.

Hopefully the C spanners will arrive today or tomorrow then I can get on with my B14 adjustments Sunday

@andys where did you get your silicone cables? glad you managed to find a solution for your solar cable entry..
