What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Midges love normal insect mesh - like chucking a stone through an open window. The one difficulty with my method was sewing the magnets into the mesh - with a metal needle... Live & learn. The whole lot cost me about £15 and some of my time. Those California nests are £95! Worth it if time is an issue and it’s mozzies that are the issue I guess.
For me it would be better fitting the finer mesh onto the mosquito nets then it’s easier and a nicer finish

Ghost II fitted.
Rubber 'don't lose parking tickets down the windscreen' protector fitted.
:)

Subtlely different @Jamielad83 ? Almost no difference. Good job it was easy to do then!
Do like the shape of that new wheel tho.

Didn't want anything that looked to out of place, like some do. Also, didn't want additional costs of a new airbag if I went down the Golf GTI / R route.

It's got a much chunkier feel to it and is molded nicely where your thumbs sit at the quarter to three position.

Did you manage to get the paddles to work ?
I am looking to go the same
Thanks
John

I certainly did, quite literally plug and play.

Bought the steering wheel, originally from a Golf, as the buttons were different (and backlit white) I removed whole black trim complete with buttons from both wheels and swapped them over. Plugged everything back in.... and bingo!!

The only tools used:
Flat head screwdriver - to pop the airbag out
M12 spline - to remove the steering wheel
Plastic trims tool - to remove black trims from each steering wheel

Really is as simple as that mate, paddles worked straight away.

Wow I thought that you had to wire into the dash to get them working.
Are all the buttons for the phone ,stereo etc work as well
And to be cheeky who was the seller

Thanks
John

Honestly, really as easy as I said mate, everything works (including the paddles) with no additional work.

The seller on eBay is - speedautot

Don't get hung up on the buttons being the same if you plan to swap them from your original wheel.

Hope this helps

Not yet, just got the bike into the van and onto the wheel chock, measured and cut a plate of steel (86x75cm) to bolt the chock to, then need to work out how I'm going to secure the plate to the seat anchors.
More to follow as work progresses.

That's what I did, cut to size and fitted over the top of the mosi nets on poptop vents and window nets

Not today but earlier in the week had Autowatch Ghost fitted by @Spookybear on the van. Great guy and service and sleeping a bit easier on a night now. Really pleased with it.

...Well yesterday and today. I wired up my Kombi step light ( with tech help from the forum of course) and fitted a rear load light just above the C pillar underneath my bed board and wired them both up as courtesy lights. Cutting the hole for the light was nerve wracking; not knowing what was underneath, and I used a multi tool and lots of light cuts. It turns out the loom is fastened to the corner and I was safe anyway with plenty of cutting space.

Top tip! I put the light symmetrically on the slope about 40mm from the edge of the roof cut out. In hindsight that was a bad idea and I should have lined it up with the strip light you can see because the C pillar continues inside and reduces the space in the gap which meant I had to chop the corner of the light off- still looks ok though.
