Longest day = lots of time in the evening to muck about with the van
Couple of quick and easy mods, and a few hours detailing. Heaven.
First off, I’ve had my Ovano Switch XL unit fitted for about 18 months now, and it’s been great (honestly, anyone with a Kombi should look into one - best money I’ve spent on the van). But recently it’s started creaking like hell. So, quick gander on their website, and they now sell side supports to limit the sideways movement. Apparently these are now included as standard on any new units they sell/fit, but you can buy and retro fit ‘em yourself. Easy as pie to fit, and it’s completely sorted the problem
Like completely. Happy days.
Next up, I’ve always had a bit of a first world problem with my Leighton LV-1 alloys. Love the wheels, hate the centre caps they came with (weird green logo branding). Problem is, the caps are a weird size (68mm), and I’ve struggled to find decent quality replacements that’ll fit (I’ve previously bought and binned a couple of sets that weren’t up to scratch). Once again, this forum came up trumps though, and
@click83 gave a solid recommendation for THESE (
4 items VW 68mm / 62mm wheel center caps Volkswagen rim hub covers - TuningLinieTM) which fit perfectly and the quality is tip-top. They take about a week to come from Germany, but worth the wait. Fitting was simple, just drilled a small hole in the middle of the Leighton caps, hooked an Allen key in, and yanked ‘em out with a pair of pliers. Then just pushed the new ones in. Took less than 5 mins. Pics probably don’t do them justice, but much preferring the OEM+ look
As they came (forgot to take ‘before’ photos)…
And after…
Then, a ruddy good detail inside and out (quite happy with some nice reflections from the paint
). Bloody love long summer evenings…
