What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Took off the front splitter this morning to give Alan @Alan@Crafted automotive a little bit of work to do in the next few weeks.
Not quite on the scale of @Texxaco 's Floyd front end, but an improvement non the less.
It looks like the lacquer has started to delaminate from the abs plastic or whatever the term is in body shop jargon!!

Then, decided to swop out the original 16" steel spare with brand new M+S winter tyre for a 17" wheel / tyre combo with a just legal tyre.
This is so 340mm brakes can be fitted by @CRS Performance some time early next year.
The 16" rim does not fit over a 340mm caliper, whereas a 17" does.

Original, as supplied by Vw wheel / tyre 16" combo

To be fitted, as received from a kind fellow T6F member (@Bear) after meeting up at a former Brook Meadows summer camp a good few moons ago.

The, to be fitted 17" wheel with standard 215/60/17 tyre was slightly deeper than the 16" wheel / tyre and the wheel carrier was on its highest setting from the factory.
Thought it would be ok not to alter & drop the carrier height just for 10mm

Although tight, everything fitted ok, but I certainly wouldn't want to drop the spare & change a wheel at the side of the A1 on a cold, dark, wet, wintery night.

Took also a little time to liberally spray some anti rust goo around the wheel well & everywhere else until the rattle can was empty:

Spaghetti junction.

Stage 1 of a fridge swap out. Using the new space above the Alpicool chest fridge to move my MPPT and AC charger closer to the VB and LB. With some complicated wiring and a heschen break before make pole switch, i can send the Solar output charge to either battery while at the same time sending AC charge to the other battery.

stage 2 will be a door for the Alpicool CF45

stage 2 right down to matching wood grain. iam now done with mods (for a while). My view of the benefits of the chest fridge/freezer:

- more fridge volume
- no accidental spillages
- unplug and take it outside
- footrest inside and outside
- work surface inside or outside
- no orange light from compressor when on EHU
- better thermal properties
- space for charging electronics above it
- opportunity for cross charging mod

Fitted solarplexius to the rear tailgate and the back windows of my LWB shuttle, now have a problem as they have sent me one which fits the sliding door and the other which doesn’t, I’m guessing that one would fit a fixed pane without a door. They asked me to confirm after ordering what I exactly wanted and the order wasn’t correct so I’ll have to speak to them tomorrow to get it sorted.

Lots of work done recently. This weekend I installed some 4" focal speakers to the rear of my CK conversion. This follows installing the Skipton Blam kit at the front + sound deadening (following @Dellmassive's very helpful thread). Now need to find someone to help me code the fader. Went for a run today and a pretty major improvement to the sounds, but could still benefit from an amp so that's another job to add to the list.

Any pictures of this? Thoughts?

The first hole is always the worst. And yes, no going back after that. It's straight forward enough though.
