What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

stage 2 right down to matching wood grain. iam now done with mods (for a while). My view of the benefits of the chest fridge/freezer:

- more fridge volume
- no accidental spillages
- unplug and take it outside
- footrest inside and outside
- work surface inside or outside
- no orange light from compressor when on EHU
- better thermal properties
- space for charging electronics above it
- opportunity for cross charging mod

...drilling the first hole does hurt, no?
But after that there's no way back :D
The second one was the worst for me. I'd opted to cut out the corners with a big hole saw and cut the straight sides with a jigsaw. I was working on the driveway so the first hole committed me to getting it done in a day. The second was where I found that the 80mm hole saw I'd bought suddenly went from sharp to polishing the metal. I had to drop everything, drive 12 miles to Guildford and buy another 80mm plus a couple of other sizes in case the 80mm saws were from a bad batch. It tuned out that they were, as the second saw went blunt even more quickly. A single 75mm saw did all the other holes.

I got a refund on the 80mm saws but it put me back half a day and meant I had to tape plastic sheet all over the van that night and fit the windows the next day.

My first van I done with a big hole saw and it went blunt on first hole. I bought a kit though. The other holes I done with a 56mm hole saw and it stayed sharp. Misplaced that so bought a cheap erbauer 56mm yesterday and it done all 8 corners. In fact, it went through like butter so hope they're not cheap Chinese steel vans now lol.

My arbor got well and truly stuck after the first window so I had to revert to drilling several smaller holes around the corners and neatening them up with aviation snips. Still haven't got round to sorting the bloody Arbor!

I'm now chasing a couple of leaks from the windows. So important to get that bead of bonding uniform.

Did the sound deadening in the scuttle yesterday… testdriving this morning: it‘s worth it! A little step forward towards a silent T6 :D
Looks like you used sound deadening and thermoliner?
How many sheets of the deadener did you use?
It's on my very long "to do" list.

I've been trying to post this for a little while but it wouldn't let me.
Had the top popped by the folks at Skyline, we're really happy with it.

Since then I've been making my own ply panels which has been a pain to be honest, I'm definitely questioning my decision to home roll them instead of just buying a kit.
