What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

This also the wireless water tank sensor I'll be looking to get too. It really does never end

It'll save me having to get out the van and open the driver's sliding door to check my fresh water level, thing is I've run out before when I knew I was getting sort of low but not sure quite how low... I only have a 16l tank too so a few cuppa/pans of pasta quickly gets through that.

Ah damn sorry, the official shop ruuvi.com delivers tags worldwide but batteries only to Finland due to lithium. They are reasonably priced in the shop so that's why I suggested it without realising the delivery restriction.

I've had mine installed since summer with the std batteries and they're still showing as ok in the ruvvi app. Hopefully they last longer than a year or 2!

I'm going to look in the cupboard under my sink for the water level!

Mine are the white 4 in 1 (one in the fridge, one in my kitchen cabinet in an open space for general inside temps, then I've got the pro 4 in 1 but I would have got the pro 2 in 1 instead as it's fully waterproof rather than just splash proof for the 4 in 1.

I got mine from ruvvi direct as it came to over 100 euro which meant free shipping. You can't get the batteries from them though (Finland delivery only), and they'll be cheaper from a UK seller if you need to pay for delivery.

How much is the Ruuvi app after 6 months free Paul?

Probably fine. But I tried using one in freezer and the battery was gone in couple of months. And I don't (yet) have them in van. Just got the batteries after having the tags abandoned for couple of years, now connected three I have to Home Assistant and Grafana and about to order some more of them

Ahh yeah I would imagine freezing all the time would kill them. Mine in the fridge only see down to zero and then all 3 only see below zero a few times a year. My lowest battery voltage is 2.88v

Did you bother with the stands or dryrobe jackets for them? Just putting an order together with them!
The what?

Nope, just the tags - the tape on the back is proper strong though, once they're fixed you ain't moving them! I tried to move my fridge one but gave up, it would have ripped the inside of the fridge off!

You'll also get another screen on your Cerbo GX touch screen with the sensors

Thats another €101.45 I reckon you owe me! Big thanks Paul! Nice to buy something from Finland though!

Is that the ruuvi cloud portal?
Nope that's Grafana running in Raspberry Pi, part of my Home Assistant setup which I'm currently slowly building. Basically it just stores the samples and I'm able to graph stuff over any time period and make automations (like eg thermostats or temperature alerts) from the data. But almost nothing comes out of the box so it's lot of work and slow.

Very nice and very cool! Too much hard work for me though, and too similar to my day job!

Yeah, I know the feeling, probably partly a reason why the progress is so slow
That is the problem with proper jobs, if you were to spend your life leaning on, and occasionally playing pianos and other musical furniture, you would really love doing all this stuff. Roll on retirement, I might even enjoy music again! In the meantime, theres Ruuvi and Victron!

I just looked them up at Bosch.

I'm a 6.1 but I don't think they are different.

You're looking for the A351S 24inch/600mm on the front (I got the twin pack) and the A403H 16inch/400mm on the rear.

yes

Not questioning expertise but Amazon reckons won’t fit?!
Have a T6 (2017) got A351S - 600 mm Amazon - perfect fit - also used damaged packaging option - arrive perfect no package damage and saved a few £’s to put in the pot for new headlights. Just need to order 100 more blades and I will be there

OK, finally had a chance to look under the van in daylight and see what Brandon and his team have done. @AJCConversions

Previously, we had a 23l water container in the kitchen cupboard, and drained down out of the van into a waste container which we carried.

After a fruitful discussion with Brandon at AJC Conversions, we decided on:

CAK 203 fresh water tank (38l) in front of the spare wheel;

The 17l tank in the near-side back corner that was promoted on here some time ago, used as a waste tank. It's available on Ebay. It's ideal as it is directly under our rear kitchen sink.

Apparently it was very tricky to route the pipework, but they've done a very neat job.

Filler to match the electric hook up.

Why these tanks and this filling option?

Brandon offered a neater filling option inside the barn doors, but as we use a Towbox we don't open the back unless we take the box off.

The 38l CAK tank is plenty for a weekend, and should do 3 nights, which cover the majority of our trips. 4 nights might need a small top-up but easily done. I didn't want the 60-70 litre option and then either try and judge a half-fill, or carry round and then dump half a tank every time we went away for a weekend.

The waste should be plenty for 3-4 nights, half of our water use is consumed by us in drinks and food. We have a collapsible bucket if we need to empty without having to move the van.

Longer trips we take the box off to empty the loo cassette every 3-4 days so will fill and empty then.

Thanks again to Brandon and the team. Next up is Lithium!!!
