I can get over 600 miles (648 the record) from a tank (between 71 and 72 litres, or 15.75 gallons). More usually 570-590. So 36.7-41.1mpg, which is very close to what the MFD tells me. Nearer 35mpg on drive to the highlands with load and bikes on bike. T30 102 kombi, standard wheels. '16 plate, no adblue, so EU5 engine?
Having the economy on display means I get much better economy than the old 2.5, 130 T5, as it's a constant reminder/challenge

I often travel along side a colleague who has the same Kombi as me but his is a 150 and mine is a 140 ( though remapped ), and yes, I do get better mpg than him. He is literally 500m from the M60, and I'm a good 20-30 min to the motorway, so I'd think he would get better mpg figures, but no. Both DSG, mine standard 17" wheels and lowered 40mm, his, not lowered and 18" alloys, and both 70k and above.

Depends on what sort of roads the 20 to 30 Mins are I suppose.

Sorry, But in my opinion that's rubbish.
Over full tank to full tank i don't think anyone can get that.

You are of course entitled your your own opinion, but on this occasion its wrong!

Come and meet my driver he will prove you wrong - He delivered my old Golf R to Scotland and got 40mpg out of it , over the whole journey:)

Sorry, Are we not talking about a T6 Van?

Yes, Im using another car as an example that he got high MPG out of - a 300PS 4WD golf.

Anyway no sweat you believe what you want, I know what's possible ;-)

T6 HL 150BHP Van

Always got 40-45mpg when I first got it, drove it as an empty van for a while and didn’t hang about on 100 mile daily commute.

Now it’s fully converted, I’m sure the roof had the biggest impact as well as weight but I still get 35mpg over same route - always 475-500 off tank.

Totally standard 17” wheels not mapped not lowered

As calculated by the car fuel computer or you with brim to brim refills?

I've got a 204 4motion Kombi loaded with tools and materials. Standard 17" wheels and suspension.

Empty or full I get the same mpg, over all calculated just under 29mpg. On a longer journey motorway I can get it up to 36mpg. But here's the rub, I live at the bottom of a steep hill and every road out of my village is up hill! This seriously impacts my mpg for any journey. When I stayed at a friend's place and drove home flat roads from the off I got over 40mpg. So I have no doubt if I lived in a different place my mpg would improve. I drive a mixture of b roads, fast a roads and motorway. Average about 20000 miles a year.

Do I care I have low mpg? Not really I just enjoy my van for what it is.... A cracking looking, reasonably fast, very comfortable work van!

I did 42 miles yesterday from north west London to south east London via the m25 and m11 and then finishing on some 30mph roads at the end. On the fast roads I kept it at no more than 50/65mph as was in no hurry and I got this - definitely noticed the mpg drop if I crept above 65mph

Funnily enough I had a play yesterday. This is a brand new 150 DSG shuttle. 4 people. Full seats. And I drove like a saint - it’s painful. But doable. I think with a longer stretch and mor motorway it would have easily gone up a bit.

This thread is getting ridiculous.

52mpg after 14 miles and 17 minutes of, 'painfull', driving.

Come back to us when you've done a couple of thousand miles driving, 'normally', with your a average.

This kind of dick swinging does not help people like me who are genuinely struggling with poor fuel economy, as it implies that we MUST be halfwits who can't drive without burning through loads of fuel.

Again, thanks for your input.

I'm not about to get on to VW about 8t as they will dismiss it as my driving style, plus I know I'm not alone in the T6 world when it comes to poor mpg.

I perhaps would say to all those that are getting good fuel economy, be thankful, because its probably just luck rather than how you drive it, and spare a thought for those of us left bitterly disappointed by our vans fuel consumption despite our greatest efforts to get anywhere near the kind of figures some of you are.

We are departing for France next week camping.
My van will be loaded with all our gear,(300/400kgs), 2 adults and 2 children, full tank of fuel, nothing on the roof or on the back, and we will drive virtually all of the French side on the motorway at 60mph.
I expect, (as last year), to average 27/28mpg.
Probably far fetched but have you checked that your MFD is configured for UK gallons?

I could do the same drive as you did and get 34 - 35 mpg, driving as carefully as you, that's a huge 18 mpg difference!
My MFD is not far out, I did a brim to brim fill up and calculated mine at 33 when the display said 34, that's on A roads at about 50 mph, never over 60.
There's more to this than driving style, I know how to plan ahead and drive frugally, I am an advanced driver, (not that you have to be to be a good driver).
Out of interest Ollie, you might be qualified with your experience to indicate how much of a mpg hit 4Motion causes?

Im really not sure what your point is, I feel you have taken offence, my post wasn’t meant to be like that. You’ve mentioned halfwit not me.

If you read all my posts, which clearly you haven’t, I’ve said my average is down in the 20’s. But my van is 4Motion big wheels and full spec and I drive it hard.

This is purely an example if you drive these vans carefully on a run, and albeit this was a snapshot, High mpg is possible.

I can’t comment on how you drive, where you drive etc. One thing I can comment on is I wouldn’t use mpg as a dick swinging contest.

As you were ;-)
