Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Eurotunnel. In fact posting this from the train as usually a good mobile service France to uk but zero service uk to France. View attachment 192610

I'll be on the Eurotunnel at the end of May - can I ask you what you've done about headlights for driving in France? The T6.1 doesn't have a 'Travel Mode' in the MMI settings, to adjust headlights for driving abroad. My local VW van centre has suggested I need to go in and see them so they can activate travel mode using VCDS, but this sounds odd to me. I'd be very grateful if you could let me know what you've done with your 6.1 mate

In all the years of travel around the EU with our motorhome we never used them. Unless your driving at night you may and I say may need them. We are back in Ireland and UK later this month and I'm not fitting anything to our LHD VW camper. It's up to you.

The table is one that was made by the company that made my interior so it’s the same as my worktop. Generic van worktop/table.
It’s attached to one of the cranked leg kits from chippys workshop. cranked B-pillar campervan table leg set
However, using that leg system the table top doesn’t rotate which I’ve found to be a pain. If doing it again I’d get a different type of leg that enables the table to rotate.
I also have a second bracket fitted at the rear so I can cook at the back under the tailgate.5DEA9586-129D-4496-831A-FBDF7F7BA04D.jpeg

Apologies, I'm rather delayed - not today, but Saturday ... delivered the van to Chris at The Van Cave for various works - electrics, acoustic/thermal insulation/carpeting, VanShades etc. He was very obliging w.r.t. carpeting a DIY door store and table housing for the fixed panel.

It's going to be a long 2 weeks no doubt.

hi Jimbob
I didn't bother last time as I knew I wouldn't be driving at night. I carried beam deflectors in case that changed.

If you have LED I dont think they need changing. I am sure someone on here can tell you if travel mode exists in VCDS however I didnt think it did

I did exactly the same, still have them in the van now. I have a t6 with THQ aftermarket lights so no idea where I’d put them if I ever got stopped and made to fit them. I didn’t travel at night much if at all but if you need to just make sure the beams are adjusted down. You won’t be able to see where you are going but people coming the other way will so they can take evasive action when you are swerving all over the road

I have the stick on ones but have never put them on. The headlamps don't have the guide lines or dots that I could see in which to line up the deflectors, so it is probably futile putting them on as they'd no doubt be wrong. I carry them in the van just in case I'm made to though.

good point that I forgot to add. I have a LWB shuttle and it is usually loaded so I put the lights on the FULL load setting. As you say it means vision might be a bit naff.

I have got a job near Pickering tomorrow, so rather than a 2-3 hr drive in the morning from home, I've decided to stop the night near Malton so only a short drive tomorrow. A small site, appears to be in the middle of nowhere, very quiet, might only be 3 or 4 of us here. Was going to walk the couple of miles to the pub but I'll probably stay and drink my own beer and cook my own food.

"I'm Mandy, fly me!"

After some umming and arring bit the bullet and headed south............... to Newark!

On a mission to Vanstyle to buy goodies for the bluebus.
After a bit of faff on the A1 with heavy traffic and reduced laneage arrived round dinnertime.
Bought a bonnet wind/stone deflector and nice new gloss black front and rear badges.
Called into Clumber Park for a bite to eat and a brew in the cafe and sat out out in the sun for a while. Lovely day!

Headed towards the M1 as we didn't want a repeat of the A1 traffic fiasco. All plain sailing until we got to Sheffield when Google Maps informed us of 1 hr delays and bad congestion due to crashes. Took the Manchester/ Stocksbridge exit ............... big mistake, so did many others!
Sat in very slow moving traffic and headed for Barnsley. Bad queues everywhere. The car on its' roof near Birdwell may have had some impact on the traffic situation! Hope the driver was OK.
Came within site of the M1 a few times only to see traffic flying up toward West Yorkshire!!! Convinced Google lied!!!

Eventually arrived home after a longer than anticipated journey. Still, nice to give the van a bit of a run!
