Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Back down to Newark but in the car this time. Decided the wind/stone deflector wasn’t my thing.
Opted for a rear bumper guard instead.
M1 down, M1 back. A lot quicker today!
Which bumper protector did you go for? I’ve been looking at their kit. I’ve been looking to replace the worn standard one on my candy white. I’ve got the gloss black badges, wondered if the gloss black protector might be a good combo. Not sure if the gloss black would scratch and look scruffy quickly .

Went for the more expensive ABS cover.
Considered the gloss as I like shiny! Like yourself I did wonder if it would scratch easily which defeats the point of what it’s there for.
It uses 2 adhesive tape strips which run the full length of the cover (front and back) Also has a sachet of adhesive accelerant which you put on before fitting.
It honestly sticks like the proverbial.
Decent mod which looks well on the van.

Brit-stopping in the Wye Valley. A pint by the fire watching the ladies rugby before a little walk up the hill and now ordering dinner. Taking the mountain bike to the Forest of Dean tomorrow. Happy days.

I cycled up that in the coast to coast in a day ride I did a few years back. Something I don’t want to repeat but I think I might prefer cycling it to driving it in the van, crazy!

Having dialled the van camping set-up to 11, I’ve ironically been hankering after something much more ‘back to basics’, so I scratched that itch recently, with my bro’ in-law (a thankfully like-minded soul).

Carry what you need on your back, hike up a scenic bit of elevation to get some views, and arrive late to enjoy a sunset, a moonrise, dark skies and get-up early for a mountain-top coffee and (frosty) sunrise before leaving at the crack of dawn (and leaving zero trace). It was very good for the brain box (think they call it mental health these days) - there’s something about leaving everything behind and putting terrain, rather than tarmac or concrete under your feet. Bloody loved it - and of course the van was the thing that got us there and back…

So diesel heaters, electric hook-up and all the other camping comforts aren’t always necessary - sometimes it’s just good to use the bus to get you to the starting point of your weekend adventure, leave it behind, and then use it to get you back again.
