Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Peak District. Parked the van on the old Mam Tor road and went for a bike ride.

Ended up going not where I intended to, but it was good that I did and took me above and behind the Hope cement factory. In doing so, I got a good view down onto the quarry which enabled me to take a quarry porn pic for a friend of mine who is a retired quarry manager. I'm sure he was throwing himself around the lounge when he saw it.

Met some cows (or most precisely bulls)

My wife tells me a need to grow up. I don't know why!

Then my ride took me by some trend setting Peak District sheep and their bucket hats.

24 KM in then it was time for a beer in Castleton before pedalling back up the Old Mam Tor road passed the semi permanent mobile home encampment to the van for my packed lunch and a brew. Nice day out.

Drove to Cambridge Monday morning and home again today. 780 miles return. Saw the van go over 100000 a couple of weeks ago, and 101000 this evening.

View attachment 197576Painters farm campsite just outside Faversham, Kent. What a day!
Word of warning for anyone travelling CW on the M25:

Although I paid for 2 dartford crossings in advance and then 2 more to collect a dog I received a PCN today for not paying the charge for the 2nd of the 4 crossings. After getting nowhere on the website I called them and it seems that as I used the new beta pay method on the gov.uk page which is run by a different company they weren’t informed that I paid (despite being charged for it and despite the new system saying I had no crossings left against that charge)

They said the PCN would be cancelled but couldn’t send a message to confirm so it’s a worry and I would recommend not using the beta payment page!

Hopefully this will be the last I hear of this but a bit worrying as I crossed dartford 4 times in the last month using this same payment option so I hope I don’t get 3 more PCN letters!

Today I paddled (sea kayak) from Coldingham beach to Pitticowick bay, to take part in the scattering of an old friend's ashes, who was sadly taken far too early (56!) last year.
Tonight I'm staying at an aire in Eyemouth off North Street. It has electric and toilet disposal. It's next to a Pub (suspect the pub has made better use of half it's old garden )IMG20230520184242.jpg
