Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Morning All. The wife and I are planning a week in the Peak District (not been before) trying out our new hybrid electric bikes and wondered if anyone had a recommendation for a great site near to good cycling (paths preferably) and pubs obviously! Thanks.
Check out Beech Croft Farm near Blackwell. Pretty much on the Monsal trail. 3 good pubs nearby - one a short drive (or cycle) away and then 2 others 25 min strolls away which helps walk off the puddings on the way home!

Stayed there last year, agree that it's a great site. Good walks and pubs in the area, the only downside I could say was it was really windy but it's high up.

Did a little 25 mile section hike of the South West Coast Path at the weekend, between Exmouth and Seaton. My god what a fabulous stretch of coastline. Company was an old pal I’ve known for 30 years, and a couple of backpacks filled with everything needed to live homeless for the weekend. We dropped the van at one end, and his at the other for easy transfer back. Weather was perfect, sunny, but not too hot, a balmy 20-22 degrees. We do a couple of little adventure weekends like this a year (and have done for years), but this one has to be in the top 5. Breath taken away by the views multiple times a day. 4,000 ft of elevation over the course of the hike, so I’m still feeling it a couple of days later, but buzzing. Awesome weekend.

Van needed a little TLC after being bombarded by the South Coat Seagull Luftwaffe after I got home though. Just carefully got the worst off - proper detail to follow ;)

Looks like it cut itself shaving. But a good way to remove bird bombing.

Starlings nesting in our guttering are currently using my van for target practice, so I'm interested in how you are getting rid of the bird poo - got any tips?

Is that coast path sign with the acorn, directions to where @Cuffy went cold water swimming?:D

A little jaunt out for a night away in the van. I'm parked in the campsite attached to the Crown Inn at Bishops Cannings near Devizes. Just me an done other van. Beautiful spot, £12 a night. The pub its said to serve good food and beer - I'll check that out later. I've an MS Teams meeting to join first.IMG_0961.jpeg

Back to Stromness, and a walk around the Ness. Great views of Hoy and Graemsay.

Then to Orkney Brewery, as I was in danger of running out of beer!

After Dragonheart Stout chocolate cake and a few tasters, Mrs CAB drove us to Marwick Bay for tea and a doze.

I used Purge from Bristol Detailing Supplies for the first time the other day, and it was great for removing bird poo, tree sap etc.

The general rule Bav - is get it off pronto, before it etches the clear coat. You don’t need any special products, just get some sopping wet kitchen paper, lay it over the cack and let it soak for 5 mins to soften, then just carefully wipe off. Nowt more to it than that really pal.
