Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

We are at Camping Mun. du Sans Souci, Fresnay Sur Sarthe (about 50 Km from Le Mans). It's a smallish quite site in a lovely location on the banks of the Sarthe - pitch with electricity and water points and a nice clean shower/toilet block all for €15.22. Please excuse the crappy drone pictures - I'm just learning how to play with a new toy:

Stayed overnight in the aire just outside Angers. Fantastic aire with individual pitches and showers etc right on the side of the River Maine.

Had a walk along the river into Angers (5miles) this morning which was stunning.
Currently wandering round Angers which is a stunning city. Well worth a visit.IMG_4702.jpeg

Forgot to post this picture which is the view that greets you at the end of the road to the campsite:

Tonight we're in Chanier at Camping Belle Rivier. Another great riverside site (The Charente). It's not very busy but you wouldn't think so looking at our surroundings. We arrived at about 1500 hrs and not long after that a couple of motorhomes and a caravan surrounded us - the rest of the site is pretty sparsely populated but I suppose they think there's safety in numbers. Out of respect for their privacy, I chose not to fly the drone - that and the fact that there's quite a few bikini clad women, sunbathing, swimming, paddle boarding etc. about 20 metres or so from us on the river and I didn't want anybody to think I was perving over them (cue @JOG). Temperature's currently early 30s.

PS. It's €18 per night all in with ACSI CC. Whilst on that subject, I thought I had lost our card and therefore phoned ACSI to see if there was anything to be done - within 15 minutes, they had emailed me a PDF copy along with a signed statement to authenticate it - top drawer customer service (about 5 minutes after that, I found the original stuck inside my passport - what a plank!).

Manchester commercial van centre for service/cam belt etc. just got here now to pick it up to be told that someone has scraped it down the side with their vans bumper. They found it on their CCTV and as I arrived, Revive arrived and are now looking if they can sort the damage out for me! If not they’ll book it into the body shop.

Annoying but at least they are sorting it.

They buffed out the damage (including doing a few more scratches on the sliding door for me) and was happy with it and told them so. I drove away and first stop was Tesco. On seeing the side in a different light and also next to the car parking space white lines, I noticed a slight indentation line that I did not see at VW as it was reflecting back those white lines. I am now waiting for a manager to call me tomorrow. It's a bugger I didn't see it before I left. TBF it is still fairly minor and hardly noticeable but that isn't the point. I am sure another visit from Revive would sort it.

I really wish I had noticed it before leaving. I am really pissed off at myself!

Gone a bit chavy tonight. BBQ behind the van at the free aire in Falais.
Was supposed to be going to Bayeaux but took longer than we thought so had a quick look on Search for Sites and ended up here.
Free village etap, beautiful view one way, supermarket the other.IMG_4704.jpeg

Very nice @Ayjay, we used to frequent that area many years ago when my brother lived up the road at St Aubin Du Desert.

Still in Italy (just) drove up the Aosta valley today & then up the mountain to Pila. Did a couple of hours walking in the mountains. It’s chuffin’ harder walking up ‘em than skiing down em. Still magnificent though. Up into France tomorrow via the St Bernard pass, going over the top, not through the tunnel. Should be spectacular, weather permitting. Currently parked up in Pila for the night looking out over Mt Blanc & the Matterhorn. Does it get any better than this?

VW Manchester have been good. Have got it booked in for week after next. As it is only a crease with no break in the paint, I guess it will be a simple repair. Either way, they are doing it for me.
