Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

We’ve had a little hiatus on our van trip. After 5 weeks of touring Spain we decided on Saturday to have a little hotel break and booked a hotel near Tarifa in Portugal for the Sunday.
So the van has been residing in the car park for the duration of our 5 night holiday within a holiday.
Back on the road tomorrow towards Sagres.

When you park at the back of the car park to give yourself plenty of space… and then get back to find someone has parked right next to you

It’s mad isn’t it? Why do people do that? It drives me nuts. I too always park well out the way but nine times out of ten, someone will park right next to me despite being surrounded by acres of empty spaces!!
Maybe it’s a subconscious herd instinct, safety in numbers thing? Not that that applies to me though, I try and avoid people at all costs!:)

I wondered if they also wanted to be at the back, but can’t park straight without another vehicle alongside ??
Or they’ve done it on purpose as a wind up :sneaky:

We've had the same thing happen on near empty campsites when we've left the van for a walk only to return to it and find somebody else settled in about 10 metres away (On the plus side, I suppose it could have been five). Thinking about it, the same thing has happened on beaches as well.

Must’ve picked a good spot!

A long Easter weekend road trip round what I’m calling the “North East** 300 Loop”.
(That’s North East _Scotland_ but actually quite north for all you southerners who keep talking about the north… ;-p.
A road trip I planned based on the North East 250 route but missing out the mountains - I know them well anyway and will save them for a summer road trip with Mrs Mac.)

Roughly starting in Perth (from home on the west coast near Loch Lomond - life’s tough) across to Dundee and the Angus coast (Arbroath, Montrose…), then Stonehaven and Dunottar Castle, Aberdeen, east coach dunes and beaches, Aberdeenshire Moray Firth coastal villages, then looping back south via Strathspey (distilleries incl. Strathisla and The Macallan where Mrs Mac was so enjoying her trip that she allowed purchasing of said whisky!).

Let me know if anyone wants more route details. I have a full Google map list of stuff!!
Slàinte.

Give me a shout next time you’re passing Dundee and heading up the east coast.
I’ve got some cracking free camping spots and some amazing walks I will share with you.
